Even if the rumor is inaccurate, it would be nice to see a memo from MD along those lines. Anything to show some fire in his belly and some wartime leadership potential.
His carefully worded optimism for an "historic contract" (what exactly does that mean?) and his demands for unity...don't inspire much unity.

Show us that DALPA actually has restoration as its objective and we will have more unity than they know what to do with.
Plus, it would be a really good test to see just how legitimate this mutually respectful relationship is that we supposedly have with management. What are you afraid of, DALPA? Are you afraid that "proactive engagement" hasn't turned out to be what you thought it was?

I call bluff. If they wanted to try that they would have floated it before the announcement and then used what they already decided to do as a "penalty" for not going along. All this would do (if true) is openly admit they have no idea what they're doing WRT long term fleet plans. They already get the labor for 777 rates, which is a lot of extra pax for no additional extra pay. Anything else they could float would just discredit them and their intentions further and likely further unify the troops for C2015.

Read it on the other forum. It is hard to believe management would try such a dusty old trick. Given their severe lack of scope compliance, the pilots are in no mood for yet more concessions.
They choose the planes, we fly them. Our contract is not written in pencil.
You never ever negotiate for planes. Ever.
