Details on Delta TA
#8851
Hello everybody. I apologize for being late to the party. I am however, now here. I must be the newest guy because I just joined, and this is my first post in any forum, in my life. My kids are laughing at me. This TA is too important for any of us to remain on the sidelines. When playing poker it isn't necessary to know the other players at the table. I do however find it helpful on occasion. I have neither the time nor the inclination to go back and read every post Sharpest has ever made. He has said that he'd come to anyone, anyplace, any time. So I take him up on his offer. I live in New Hampshire, MHT is closest. I will be out of the country 22 Jun to 26 Jun, otherwise I am totally free until the 9th of July. Sharpest, honor your commitment and meet me before the 9th. I will promise not to take you to some high priced bar where the lawyers all hang out but rather a blue collar place where we can celebrate our Union affiliation. I'll bring my Delta ID, you bring yours. Deal?

Sick leave abuse is one of the most serious offenses you can have in your employment here. Its a legal issue. There are rules of evidence and procedure. Proven guilt is almost always a firing offense even for a first occasion. Pilots are NOT being terminated for it. You saying that there is abuse is your personal and anecdotal opinions. Nothing more.
DALPA can't fix sick leave abusers. If it's proven, you're done. DALPA can't help you.

Some other perspectives:

Having read the Delta TA highlights, I see no reason to vote no. New hire seat locks? 50/50 block hours ratio on code shares (current UAL contract), shrinking DCI overall but adding 25-70/76 seaters for 50 mainline 90/95 seaters? No deal killers there. I don't really understand the SL changes from reading the TA changes (but it says it won't affect 2/3 of the pilot group) and the profit sharing change is questionable....but the pay rates and the fact that it's early? Slam dunk in my opinion. The good times won't last forever. I'd lock it in. Good luck!

He also glosses over top and bottom end scope job losses, a new B scale with the E190, and a huge loss to FO's with the removal of LCA trips. Other than that, Hazzard got it right.
