Details on Delta TA

Because negotiations is not about what you think you deserve, it's what you can negotiate. If a professional negotiator says we've extracted maximum value, and I see all my colleagues around me(FDX/SWA/UPS) getting stomped on, I believe him!
Telling a professional negotiator you believe we can get 15-20% ahead is like a pax coming to your airplane after a wind shear related diversion and stating the weather isn't so bad you could have made it!
I'm sorry I couldn't be more specific about 3 years down the road. I truly apologize.

We both have 30+ years left but our views are very different

We have a problem. In the past, you hardly ever meet a YES voter. There are none, until the vote is counted. These forums slam yes voters, and no mistake, there are 51%. They're sitting next to you, the chances are more than half the pilots you fly with will end up voting yes.
We are living in historic times, never has Delta made this much money, paid dividends or dreamed of buying back stock. Keep the message simple. Because when the company isn't doing this well, we all know they'll be demanding 40% of your pay rates and everything else they can grab. They'll shop for the best judge they can find to order it, they'll hire the best law firm to do their dirty work. This is our time to take back what was stolen under the darkness of bankruptcy.

Then not only will you not have profit sharing...they will come after your paycheck. It's happened to all of us who have been around this business long enough. The first ask will be from your union to "save the company". The next reduction will come in BK. All of our pay is "at risk"

Just remember, an A330, 757 or even A321neo equals one of these under the new TA. Don't let ALPA let tell you anything different.

Yeah, 380s are just flying off the shelves.

This is where Donatelli really damages his credibility. His own contract comparison shows us not leading the industry in any section. Yet he touts this as the most valuable contract in history. It makes you understand what a TOTAL waste of time it is to attend a road show. The purpose of them is not to inform, the purpose is to mislead.

If this TA goes through, I have no doubt that the next TA will be a similar steady raise. 15-20%
Like you said though, as long as we lead the industry, we are in a position of weakness at the negotiating table. Neither the company nor the NMB will take our side. That is one of the costs for having a smooth, early, and leading contract.

That's just a silly argument. Your boys will hire "professional" hired guns that have no idea what is involved in our day to day life. Even when you explain it to them, they still do not know what it is actually like to live our lives. But then again, they are so much smarter than the average pilot I guess they would get instantly. Our guys hire consultants that understand legal jargon and ramifications and how contractual language works. Your guys have no skin in the game because all they would be is mercenaries, and once you pay them, they have not to endure one second of the contract they negotiate.
I prefer the way it's done now. Of course your perspective is that our negotiators are blithering idiots and they sell us down the river for some bizarre reason, (even though THEY live under this contract just like you and I do) and nothing they do would satisfy your bloodlust for dALPA's demise anyway, so why do I even bother?
