I list for both. Someone has yet to show exactly where in writing I can't. The main point of emphasis is you can't be cleared as a standby and jumpseater. You can only occupy one seat. So if you're going to get cleared or just got cleared, tell the gate agent you don't need the jumpseat.

See I've done this the past two times. When I was cleared for standby I told the gate agent that he/she could remove me from the jumpseat for someone else and both of them scolded me a bit for it. Which is fine, I'm still learning. Not trying to screw anyone over. I just wanted to make sure I get on the flight. The last one told me to list as a jumpseater and then tell the gate agent I would like a seat in the back if it's available.

seat in the back if there is room once rev and non rev pax are boarded. I sometimes list as an non rev and have to list for the jumpseat when I get to the airport due to the flight being full. Usually they just cancel my non rev listing or leave it there. While there are great agents out there some are just on a power trip for whatever reason rather than just doing their job properly.

See the problem with that is you would then lose priority in the back. Take for example commuting on our 200s. I want to secure a seat in the main cabin so I don't have to worry about weight and balance on the jumpseat. As the jumpseater, you get the leftovers after all of the S8s or whatever. So you fall behind everyone else, but if you only listed as a standby you could get passed by another Endeavor pilot running up to the gate at the last minute for the jumpseat.
This is exactly what went thru my mind. I wonder why they have a problem listing as a nonrev and jumpseater. If you have to use the jumpseat it won't mess anyone up on the nonrev list.

As far as why, I've been told it's to make the non-rev list realistic because booking our jumpseats actually make us show up on the non-rev list. Anyone viewing the non-rev list wouldn't have any clue that a jumpseater was on that list. There's no way to discern that. If it's a flight that's close to full it could convince another non-rev to not even show up at the gate so it wouldn't be fair to them.
I don't know if this is reason they don't want 9E to do it but I'm just passing on our reasons because they do exist despite the confusion.

For mainline, it's in our FOM and is prohibited to list for a cabin seat and the JS on the same flight. We can list for the JS on one flight and then list for another in the cabin on the same city pair on the same day...but never the same flight.

Ok that does make sense. Thanks
