I understand your frustration but all that's gonna do is put you in bad standing. And then a potential non-representation when you bend metal, lose a medical, etc.

I'd have loved to be able to take advantage of LOA 50.... I'd be thrilled to sit senior FO for CA pay. Absent that, no it's not a choice, it's a need to support my family. $900 twice a month (plus a little per diem) as the entirety of my family's income does not cut it.
Dude, it's 1000 bucks. Not 900. One thousand!!!! That's like a whopping 24,000 in salary. That buys a whole lot of nothing. Haha
I wonder if there'll be an exodus to republic.

Senior FOs that pick up trips make what a rsv capt makes with more time off.

[QUOTE=TalkTurkey;2010133]After taxes, union extortion, and health insurance, it was $901.47 per check plus a little per diem every other check (somewhere between $250 and $350 per month) That paid rent and 1 car payment with about $100 left over to pay bills, food, and everything else to live.

[QUOTE=TalkTurkey;2010133]Are you including the 20k bonus in this calculation. I am guessing republic won't pay more.
#1268
[QUOTE=vilcas;2010269]No because last year when I was back in the FO seat, there was no 20K bonus. My final gross wages was $40,000. Then take out all the taxes, dues, and insurance and try to support a family. Hell of a way to treat someone that has been flying for 9+ years at the company.

[QUOTE=Avroman;2010294]TO be fair Avroman, I understand the point you are trying to make, but nobody is holding a gun to your head to continue in this career, or even this segment of the industry. You chose this direction knowing full well what it entailed.

Avroman sounds hard to please. Most every complaint on this message board is rooted in a pilots desire to fly for a living. Their desire to fly is so great they try hard to do it despite the circumstances that exist at the company they choose. They seldom will leave once there even as circumstances change since the seniority based rewards program discourages the practice. A pilots worst enemy is another pilot. For those thinking about this industry get informed and be realistic. Don't delude yourself into thinking you are about to date a 10 when its at best a 4, usually more like a 2. The upside, and this can be corroborated by anyone who has worked a different job which pays more, the piloting job is pretty easy. Sure you can make more money being a Doctor, Lawyer or Finannce type but you will actually be asked to work and you won't be able to shoot the breeze, play on your iPhone, read a magazine, or YELL OUT 'LIVIN THE DREAM ON GUARD.' You will be forced to actually work.
So for those young guys and gals in college choose. Do you want to goof off most of your time, MOST not All, or do you want a real job where you make real money. BE REALISTIC about your desires and you will have a more enjoyable career and of course some luck helps.
