I laugh at how this all works (not really) because a guy in my class, who is younger, got the 900, then bid to 200 ATL and is going to differences in Oct, while I'll be LGA until Feb with my 900 differences. oops
I get it, and this multi class bid makes things that much harder.. In my new hire days it was one class per bid and they came out every 3-4 weeks so that it was more predictable and less confusing, but the union and company agreed that today's formula is better. As for how a younger (therefor junior) got what you want tells me you didn't bid correctly. Again it is a matter of what you want not what you can hold... Unless you forced yourself into a seat lock, as the senior pilot you should go to the higher paying position first or be pay protected.

Sounds like you bid correctly, since ATL 900 is what you wanted, you just got screwed with a late class date. It happens, sorry.

I also have a late class date to go to my prefered position. I understand that they have to move people when it makes sense. I just wish they would have been a little more straightforward on the notice. They didn't mention the removal of seat locks, I am happy they released them since it has allowed me back into the 900. The part that's annoying is they said that classes would extend till December 11th so I made the assumption based on my seniority I would have an early December class and have Christmas off this year. I bid what I wanted not what I thought I could hold and it has worked out for me I just wish I didn't have to wait till 2018 for class.

So, question I'll ask again....if we have a training date, do we move to the new base immediately after finishing differences?

Yea that's kind of a raw deal but, differences aren't a large training footprint, you'd be done with sim before Christmas most likely. There is no guarantee of having Christmas off if you are doing IOE. There are now several LCP's that have fallen back on reserve or are barely holding lines and are likely to be stuck working Christmas... which means IOE will be happening on Christmas. The bigger thing is this likely means that the next vacancy won't be coming until January now. They can't have classes for the next one start before all of the classes in this vacancy have started.

No way, if hiring keeps up, there's only 7, maybe 8, new hire classes worth of FO slots available on this vacancy. I'd expect 17-05 sometime in mid to late November.

Perhaps a FO only vacancy to have slots for new hires. How would a realignment vacancy work and could that be next?

This last one barely covers SSP CA attrition. Doesn't even begin to cover aircraft growth. There's gonna be another one with Captain slots this year, the bottle neck is just going to be the training department is going to be busy with differences training by releasing all these seat locks.
