Yes they can because there’s nothing legally binding Delta to the Propel pilot. If they want to be in the program, they must work for one of the five DCI carriers or take one of the other paths. Delta legal crafted the “pledge” to be just that. Nothing forces Delta to accept the pilot in the future nor does it force the pilot to stay connected to Propel. Either party can end participation at any moment for any reason without penalty.

Wow, what a trustworthy company worth working so hard to be a part of from the ground up. I guess the "rules of the road" only apply when it suits Delta.

Nice try but epic fail. The pilots are told all of this upfront. Nothing is left to chance and it’s fair to all parties. Delta doesn’t want to force someone to come here if the pilot feels they want to be somewhere else. Likewise, Delta has up until the offer is made to come to mainline indoc to decide if the pilot is the right fit for Delta.

Propel is all about options for these pilots and it is crafted with that in mind. No promises are made by Delta and the pilot must earn their keep every step of the way.

I wonder why they don’t make a program like that for their existing DCI carriers?

It exists in the form of the DGI or guaranteed application review. Everyone currently at a DCI carrier has a 3+ year career head start on the Propel pilots. Again, nothing is 100% guaranteed for the Propel pilots just like those current programs for the DCI pilots.

I’m going to throw the bull****** flag. Delta would be stupid to try to pull something like that when looking at the number of retirements that American has coming up knowing American would turn around and be able to drain every DCI carrier or captains in a single year if they felt like it.

Yea because the legacy carriers are having trouble staff their planes, right? Congrats on posting some of the dumbest stuff ever.

I’m just passing along what I know. I will say I heard this straight out of the mouth of someone who sits in one of the big corner offices at Delta. Of course this is something that would never be more than rumor because of the obvious reasons. Delta is already hiring more AA WOs than AA is off the street especially PSA.

I nor anyone else said the legacy carriers were or will have staffing issues. They likely never will but good strategy is the key to successful business. I don’t think it’s “the dumbest stuff ever” by any means! It’s a way to slow DCI depletion and slightly weaken AAs feed and mainline flows causing a double edged sword of financial cost. Just a very slight increase in hiring targeting a few people from each WO AA regional costs AA a lot overall. Regional recruiting costs, training cycles, and higher wages to retain regional pilots until their flow date plus increased ots recruiting and HR positions at mainline. Sounds pretty expensive to me. You have to understand that at the level of management that makes these strategies they don’t have the human aspect of the business as a priority it’s all numbers!

We see in these threads every week about how Delta can’t make their mind up or keep DCI management quite and seemingly disengaged from employees. Do you think they really don’t know how to make decisions? No! It’s just Deltas strategy nothing less! I can say without a shred of doubt that that’s how they do business and it’s not a “ the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing” thing at all. I mean look at the lines of BS they have fed Endeavor about growth. Are they lying about what’s coming to you there? Possibly but highly unlikely! They are making a bit of planned instability to keep you on edge and humble so no one ends up “Comaired” with them looking like the heros!
