What is the best headset to get for the CRJ? I haven't owned one since my flight training and hoping not to fork out 1g for a Bose or something similar. I've looked at plantronics, telex and DC Passive. Does anyone have any opinions on those brands?

And lastly, uniform. I understand the company pays for half, but do most guys go with the company provided or go to third parties (A Cut Above etc) to get nicer fitting shirts/pants?

Thanks for the replies
Telex 8/850 is the cheap ANR solution, and it's easy to carry around. The build quality is crap, though. I see a lot of folks with DC Pro X's, and most are pretty happy with those.

I previously used Lightspeeds, but when they broke on a trip I picked up the DC Pro-X. Very nice headset, no issues with it. Battery life is decent, good audio quality.

Don't bother with the telex ANR. Tried it. Returned it. The DC PRO is great, but expensive.

If cost is a factor, go with a telex 750 and use earplugs. I did that for 18 years. But, you gotta find earplugs you are happy with. Doesn't work for everyone.

Also, you can usually find a 750 on ebay for under $200.

It's been said, the M&H uniforms suck. Get the absolute bare minimum. Maybe a couple shirts, blazer. You ARE NOT REQUIRED to get a hat. Regardless of what anyone says.

The crew outfitters shirts are so much better. The silver are great, the gold are really really nice.

DX pro X is awesome, especially the new one. Invest part of that 10k towards it. It really is an investment in your career here, and your hearing protection.

Just saw a sponsored Endeavor post/thread that claims upgrade times are down to less than 2 years. Is this true?

I was told after my interview yesterday that they are 2-2.5 years right now. But the line capt could of been trying to sell.

I think the most recent vacancy was a little North of 2.5. Not sure if that will hold. The next vacancy will be the real decider.
