Some questions regarding Endeavor:
I'm currently at another regional.. have the time to upgrade (4000 total, 1500 part 121)
1. On apc.com it says upgrade minimums include 1000 hours at the company - is that the case of if you come in w/ the time can you potentially upgrade quicker?
2. what's the latest on the -200s… are they going to get rid of them or not? I'd made anything work but I'd much prefer the -900. I'm also not fussy about base; I know NY has it's headaches re: cost of living, etc, but I'd be ok with anything.
3. last I checked, the retention bonuses went through 2018.. any word on if it's going to be extended?
4. if it's not necessary to have 1000 hours at the company for upgrade, and you upgrade fairly quick, is reserve going to be eternity?
I don't really want to make a lateral move; however where I'm at, hardly anyone (and I do mean hardly anyone) gets hired at majors; it's mostly a lateral move or a move to a place like Frontier or Spirit or Atlas to then have a chance to move again to a bigger place, if that even happens.
Having the Delta interview would sure be nice, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) being at a place that has had people hired at some other big companies would be nice..

2. 200 is downsizing a little, 900 is growing. Exact numbers are subject to change but that’s the trend. Overall fleet growth is projected.
3. We just voted in pay rates that replaced the bonus.
4. You’ll be on reserve for a while. At least 1-2 years depending on the aircraft and base

Currently the 1000 hours company is being waived due to lack of available people that have all the requirements to upgrade, and because of that- people in Indoc have been awarded captain. But if you want to upgrade to captain right out of the gate, your going to have to wait a long time (2-3 years for a line)... maybe you will be lucky and reseve will only be a year and a half.
We are retiring 15 CRj 200s between the november 2017 and june 2018. while we are retiring those, we are getting 33 crj900s and 700s in the same time frame.
All retention bonuses end on 12/31/2017 and new higher pay rates begin 1/1/2018.

Yes, a Roth 401K has higher limits, but I believe they are offset by the traditional 401K, are they not? So if one puts $15K into the 401K, then they could only put $3K (+ $6K if they are older) into the Roth 401K. Is this correct?
I like that the Roth 401K is post-tax, especially if one is younger. But it’s not as flexible as either a Roth IRA or a 401K, from my understanding. The Roth 401K must remain as it is, and cannot be converted down the road I think.
The main point is... contribute as much as you can afford, and start doing it last year!

Generally good advice however Endeavor offers a Roth 401k as well.
As such if you're interested in a Roth you're better served to do it within the 401k with its associated higher contribution limits (18K vs 5,500).
If the 18k doesn't get you to 15% then go to an IRA and then after tax investing. As well, I don't believe the Roth 401k is subject to a max income limit, at some point you lose the ability to contribute to a normal Roth. (In case your spouse makes a lot of money)

Technically all of it is 401k, so you have an $18k contribution limit for both parts. As you say, if you contribute 15k to a traditional you could only contribute 3K to the Roth. But you COULD contribute 18k to the Roth and ignore the traditional entirely. Traditional and Roth IRA's work the same, 5,500 combined contribution limit between the two. The only caveat on the Roth 401k is the match remains traditional. That's required by the tax code and annoying but no net impact to you vs the traditional 401k

The match would have to be rolled over to a Traditional IRA since it is tax deferred.

Open time 200 vs. 900
Thinking about making the jump to the 900. I enjoy a pretty good line now and make good credit after picking up OT. That’s because there’s plenty to be had on the 200. Is it the same deal on the 900? On a scale of work yourself to death if you want to dryer than the desert, what’s the OT pot look like on the heavy in NYC? Is that anticipated to change with the new pay rates?
