Be very careful with this. The FOM states a flight kit must be brought to all scheduled training events, plus the FOM for FO and CFM for CA. Jepps are part of the flight kit and the instructor is within his rights to check the currency. People have been disciplined for being behind in their Jepps in recurrent ground. Is it a hassle to bring them? Yes. Does the FOM say it is required to bring them? Yes. Unless there is something new in the "welcome to recurrent" email. I usually bring them on day 1 then ask the instructor if we can just leave them in the hotel.

That is assuming you don't live in another base. If you live in another base just go with the junior plane but stay in that base. Commuting blows.

Has nothing to do with being new to 9e, the advice applies everywhere. If you want best quality of life, pick the most junior plane, preferably in the most junior base. You will hold a line quicker, make more money, have more time off, and move up quicker.

Much thanks.

It's on Delta equipment so fair is fair. I do however think we should travel at a higher priority on our own metal. Also when traveling to work, and I repeat only to work, we should have higher priority than retirees. Unfortunately it's probably hard to enforce something like that. I'm sure some boneheads would abuse the privilege.
So when I see myself and family pushed further down the standby list by people who were hired at DL after me, it's understandably frustrating. It also makes it harder to plan as there is no incentive or reason to list for a flight in advance since you can list, check in, and automatically be placed where you will, leaving us with no idea beforehand of just how many of us are trying to make a flight.
The fact that we're being treated as second class employees in this just further deepens the animosity that exists between DL and its regionals; an animosity that doesn't exist between AA and its regionals.
I'm not saying that we should fight to mimic AA's way of non-revving
(I don't see that ever happening here), just venting my frustration with our system.

I came from a regional (envoy) where there was no difference between a mainline employee or a regional employee when it came to non-revving. At AA and the AA WO's your place on the standby list is determined by time of check in; check in at 17:00, you're ahead of someone who checked in at 17:02.

Dear sweet baby Jesus I hope this is tongue in cheek. AA absolutely despises their regional carriers. All you need to see is how little support they give them. Crappy ground handling equipment and facilities that rival the worst third world airports have to offer.

They despise them so much, they are going to hire about half of them in the next 10 years. Man they must really hate them🤔
