Growth is great when there is a glut of new pilots salivating for upward mobility. Now there are fewer in the pipeline and regionals are resorting to poaching other carriers with 'carrots'. That poaching is slowing down too. Your growth regionals today are starting to feel the pinch of fewer pilots to hire and that'll be when the growth stops. A buddy of mine left 9E for RAH right after we declared Chpt 11 and RAH announced 75 E175s for growth. He was told a less than 2 year upgrade. Well he is still an FO 4 years later looking at a shrinking company and possibly a Chpt 11. The regionals aren't what they once were and when the last of the poaching stops, all the regional carriers will resume shrinking. If a quick advertised upgrade works for some great, but it won't work for others.

Well it's probably on the back end by now, but in the past 2 years, Compass, PSA, TSA, Piedmont, Mesa. Pretty much everyone except Endeavor, Envoy, and ASA/XJT/Skywest.

Growth, whatever... If you look at the total count of airframes in the regional landscape its decreasing. And it will be further decreasing over time. An exchange is being made for larger jets for over 50 seat lift. And it's not a one to one exchange. Also there aren't many left to hand out do to mainline scope constraints. If I was looking to apply at at regional these days I'd look at one with zero or a few 50 seat planes. Just my humble opinion

That's assuming they meet the 1,000 hours of part 121/135 experience. Who is making lateral moves with that kind of experience now?

I agree. All 3 majors have said they plan to decrease 50 seat lift sooner than later. Why do you think Skywest continues to beef up their 76 seat lift? Very smart IMO.

You've been here posting on this thread more than people who even work here and you still have to ask these questions? Endeavor went from losing 60 people a month, with an unknown SSP FO program to a company who is handing out 20K bonuses and sending 420 people to Delta in the next 28 months (most of who will be FO's). Not to mention 70 upgrades just awarded for this fall. I might be drinking a bit too much of the Kool-Aid but what other company can offer that? If you have to play the regional game Endeavor seems as good, if not better than most of the players.

Ya, his post would've made more sense 2 years ago. Seems a bit out of the loop now.

How on earth have you managed that?

To answer the original question, it just depends... it's not a set policy like CommutAir has wherein you get a certain number of paid commuting hotels per month, but I have had situations where I I offered to pick up a trip if they would positive space me from home and put me in a hotel by the airport... it all just depends on how desperate they really are!

Don't worry, ShyGuy is just a Class-A d-bagg. Everyone from Pinnacle knows his real name.

He tries to be tough hiding behind his screen name, but when I call him by his real name he gets all bent out of shape and gets his buddy the Moderator to contact me with an infraction message.

Just because he went to Virgin America he thinks he has the right to come on here and bash all of our career choices.

Isn't that right Dancer? You still hang out by the elevator down to the DTW crew room in your spiffy Banana Republic uniform hoping that people you know will notice you and actually want to talk to you?

Get a life dude, you are the epitome of internet troll.

Also, the only person I have ever seen, who made a "Good Bye" post on Airlink Pilots, that added a bunch of pictures of the Airbus. Instead of just saying "Good Bye, I'm going to xyz Airlines" and so on like everyone else. I'm glad he cleared up the confusion by showing us what an Airbus looked like.
