I'm not an arrogant idiot that thinks that just because I've got 1200 hrs SIC in a 727 that I would breeze through a type in a glass cockpit RJ. I'm going to get as much sim or flying as possible before I go to training and work my ass off once there.
I don't take anything for granted.

You in theory can be pushed out of it.

So...pretty much any pilot above you in seniority could take the base away from you....
Although - I'm guessing - the most likely thing is those with the same a/c and seat who want into that base.
Correct?
Does this sort of thing happen all the time?

HOWEVER:
The CRJs are leaving by the end of the year and there will be a displacement then.
ALSO, the company has been forcing qualified FOs to upgrade and is treating the forced upgrade like a displacement. This has been happening every three months. If you're a non-qualified FO, this doesn't effect you, you won't be displaced out of base or equipment. But qualified FOs and junior captains are getting displaced from one base or equipment to another.

The answer SHOULD be no, it doesn't happen all the time. The company must run a displacement for that to happen. Generally this happens with a base closure or when eliminating a fleet... so not often.

It happened a couple bids ago from memory where some MIA DEC’s got bumped to ORD.

I don't keep track of the bid results/flow plan to see who all it's happening to and when but I've talked to and flown with several captains who have been displaced from base/equipment. One, about a year ago, wasn't even a DEC.

That doesn't make sense. I'm all for the seniority rules, but this shouldn't happen.
