That is a best case scenario assuming AA doesn't slow hiring. It'll be 10 years plus for a new hire, imo. The "protected" group runs out in 2019 and the flow will slow to a crawl.

It slows for the L10-11 guys and then picks back up. Look at the flow plan and see the numbers from ALPA who is much more pessimistic than reality. AA has thousands of retirements to accommodate. If you were hired in mid 2016 through early 2017 then you hit the sweet spot.

Maybe. If I could tell the future I would buy a lottery ticket every week.
That's what the flow is, buying a lottery ticket if it pays off then your winner, if it doesn't pay off then you wasted years here for nothing.
Time will tell, no permanent guarantees in this business.

Envoy letting pilots go is the bottleneck, not AA needing them. They'll gladly leapfrog 10,000 pilots in over your head at AA in the 10-12 yrs it will take you to flow, if you let them.

Hahaha. I get that Envoy has its negatives. However this prediction is worse than RWs sub five year flow.

The ebbs and flows of our staffing levels are the stuff of legends. Spring of 2017 we had more 145 lines in ORD than 145 FOs. In the winter of 2017 we had 180+ reserves. So my friend if you have found the key to predicting the advancements of 145 FO pilots then I'm all ears. The summer of 2017 I thought and stated on here Envoy reserve would be Minimal at worst. I was wrong. You may be right but I have a feeling we are going to have a higher number of 145s this year than we planned.

I agree with Pedro above me. There is a lot going on behind the scenes here. We have new planes coming, taking back lines from express jet(assumption of course but it stands to reason at least some will come back) and hiring is still strong.

The best thing is that we have some pretty senior captains on the 145 that will be flowing. Attrition is a thing and that will help.

Envoy doesn’t want three year upgrades but you need to be realistic as well. Most other companies are looking at 2.5+ years as well not to mention a vast amount of captains here sat right seat for nearly a decade.

My money is on faster movement but if you are 30 years old, you are looking at a 35 year career ahead of you, 3 years isn’t anything.

You guys ever get this guy’s name? Based on his posts, there are some serious personality issues he needs to deal with before he flies more. I’m not kidding.
