#3 is what I am struggling with. DFW is the only one-leg commute from where I live (or a 1.5 hour drive) and so its ENY, SKYW and Mesa....all three of which I have apps in. I would like to interview with all 3, really. Mesa is a clear #3 right now of those listed. Even IAH is a two leg commute or a 3-hour drive. I used to drive half way and sit in starbucks all day when on reserve, hoping I would get to go back home. or fly. or anything at all to get out of starbucks.
As they say, I have done (some) research and it seems like ENY could be the one perhaps after the AIP...but I say that carefully because I know it can be disrespectful to act like I am sitting and waiting on better pay etc (earned on someone elses backs) before I jump. AT the same time....jumping in right now has its own competing implications. The good news is that I have time, as I have said.
Being able to upgrade quick and end up in DFW (eventually) even if on reserve, is whats big to me. ENY wins that category over SKW, who would be likely 2 or so years waiting on an upgrade.

I would bet money you are a 145 guy stuck in NYC for the foreseeable future.

You're looking at probably 1.5-2 years of commuting to reserve and not in DFW. Now with the DEC program pretty much over, you would be stuck at the bottom for a very long time.
I wouldn't do it.

You would come with enough qualifying time to upgrade? You'd be displaced either to ORD or NYC. You can try to bid back to DFW every vacancy bid.

Everyone here would be fine with you waiting on the AIP to make the decision in fact people would probably encourage it. You are going to have to decide if 145 rate captain pay at envoy with zero rigs or any sort of soft pay is worth it to commute 2 legs to bottom of reserve for a long time is worth it, vs getting SkyWest FO rate for 2 years till the upgrade but getting to drive to work or quick flight. I know what I'd choose but it's your life so you get to make your own decisions.

You'll find that I'm usually more pro-Envoy than others here. But I can't think of many good reasons to come to Envoy for someone with prior 121 time. The commuting to perpetual reserve would be brutal.
Think about it this way: The junior CA lineholder in DFW 145 is a 1/2017 hire. So you're looking at a minimum of 2.5 years of commuting to reserve, with likely multiple displacements to different bases, because you'd be at the bottom of the list for a very long time.

I responded to a post, might have been yours about this situation. You might could get the 175 in initial, but would certainly be forced to 145 as Captain as I don’t think they are doing true DECs now. But still a crap shoot as what is offered in class. As far as what will be junior where remains to be seen after this current bid results are published by the 13th. Even then it will be a moving target as they grow the overall 175 fleet and the lines in NY this fall and winter. There is no way to know if they will keep the number of lines in NY or if they will adjust things next year. Line sizes have been very dynamic and causes a lot of movement or stagnation.
But one thing WILL NOT change and that is CA in DFW (145 or 175) is still the most senior as is 145 FO.

Neither accepting the lock or preferencing will prevent you from preferencing to a different base in the same equipment.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but Dera is right with his post above me. I think I need a shower now. 😉
Best of luck whichever way you go.
