we definitely need more qualities like this in mainline cockpits. Selfie ability, social media pics, dancing......you’re hired!

That’s why I’m still here. I only do my job and go home

Yeah, he was claiming to have inside info that AA wasn’t stopping hiring and that the flow would continue. Probably won’t see him for awhile...

This is also a great point. For someone who is supposed to flow end of 2021 I don’t think it’s going to happen unless things rebound fast. My guess is going to be 6 months to a year delay for someone in that position.

I think a lot of you are in for a rude awakening. We've got junior guys at AA gearing up for furloughs. Guys aren't worrying about when hiring may restart, they're worrying about how much longer they'll have a job. Not only has this virus directly affected air travel, but it's tanked the economy which also affects how many people will get out and fly places. Airlines aren't hiding the fact that this even is shaping up to be worse than 9/11. And even though circumstances are different than 9/11, just to put things in reference, AA furloughed in 2002 and resumed street hiring in 2014.

Was AA retiring 10k pilots during that decade?

Can’t have an airline if people still can’t afford to take vacations because they’ve been laid off. If you think this is isolated to the travel industry, think again.

They would have if the retirement age change hadn’t pushed it back 5 years.

Many corporations have non-essential travel bans in place for AT LEAST the next 2ish months. And that’s just because of the virus. Then travel will be greatly restricted because business costs will be at the forefront of all corporations as everyone tries to claw back their business. People won’t be flying for quite a while. Buckle up- hope you didn’t spend your new hire bonus check yet.
