Spoken like a true closed minded individual. Just because you don't like to ever leave your box, doesn't mean other people think like you. The average pilot probably spends about 10 years of their life at the regionals, that is a long time being stuck at a place with crappy travel benefits.

So it's scary because he has no CRJ time? Please. Major airlines upgrade FOs to CA on equipment they've never flown on a daily basis.
So does Skywest, Mesa, Eagle....Anyone operating multiple fleet types. It's an airplane. Probably way more forgiving than his last aircraft.

Bottom of the barrel and he's a CA now, bragging about it.

Its scary because he pencil whipped his hrs. It's scary because he has never flown in congested airports, it's sacary because he has no experience with the PSA operation in real life. It's scary because the guys it's being fired from his last place, the place before that, and the place before that.

I spent more then twice that at the regional level and off-duty travel wasn't prioritized above compensation, advancement or treatment, although I "left my box" plenty of times . Sure, it's nice, but I know pilots at various regionals and if they truly want to go somewhere, they can. Envoy doesn't open any more doors in that area then any other regional. I can't recall a single instance in well over two decades while flying for Eagle that another pilot trumpeted this aspect of the profession as anything other then something extra nice to have.
I'd much rather have "crappy" travel bennies with better pay (a byproduct of faster upgrade) and better schedules. Apparently, your priorities are reversed and so then, I agree that since you're probably going to be where you are a long time, forget about the compensation and QOL and go see the world just a little bit easier.

In the past 12 months we have:
Gone diving in Central America
Been to London 2 times
Been to Ireland 3 times
Gone to Texas for wedding
Surfing in Cali (6 times)
Spent two weekends in Chicago.
My extended family has:
Gone to Europe 3 times
Been to China (twice)
Gone to NJ
We've used AA, USAirways, Delta, United, Aer Lingus, British Airways.
We've been first or business class on all of them except BA.
We are going to Hawaii, Sydney, and New Zealand next spring.
We typically spend one weekend a month traveling and love it. My travel benefits are extremely important to me and being considered as AA for CASS has been a huge plus. Being able to Jumpseat international has significantly reduced the price. These benefits also play a huge part in where I'm willing to work.

That's a rather glib statement. I think that for you, off duty travel shouldn't be a significant factor. I love my travel benefits and my family, I laws and friends use them extensively. It is one of the major reasons I joined this profession.

Working for Another regional would not allow myself and family the lifestyle we want.
