ORD is still very much available, with a 20k bonus to boot. A person would just be flying the 700 or 145 instead, is all.

RAH has been drawing down in ORD, while Envoy was picking up the slack with the CRJ and 145. The 175 ORD vacancy was thought to mean RAH would continue to lose AAG flying in ORD.
With the cancellation of this vacancy, who knows what's going to happen. But it would appear that Envoy is still being used as the reserve airline for AAG, just covering for others until they get their ducks in a row, and then being pushed out.
It kills morale here, but then again, the main selling point of this airline is that you won't have to be here longer than six years!

Why would this impact recruiting in a significant way? From my casual observations, the vast majority prefer a DFW base anyway. The last vacancy (the one now cancelled) saw only a couple FOs bid from DFW 175 to ORD 175. The logical deduction is that all the new-hires who have bid DFW 175 over the last several months actually wanted that airplane and the DFW base -- otherwise we would have 1) seen people pick the 700 in training if they wanted to be assured ORD, or 2) seen people bid over to ORD 175. Neither happened in large quantities. Or maybe people went to Skywest if they wanted ORD and the 175, who knows. Either way, I'd be shocked if this were a big recruiting hit...

Normally I don't say anything until it's a few notches above speculation...but here goes. One of two things will happen with Republic and their ORD flying.
A. Unpark their older E170s and use them in that market..or
B. Shift E175s from either JFK or MIA.
The E170s are dead in the water and Republic can't get rid of them fast enough. There may have even been a clause in their bankruptcy settlement about parking them.
So option B is the most likely. Now, JFK or MIA? Republic is already becoming scarce in MIA with Envoy taking over much of the flying as it is. They have already shifted most of their aircraft out of there even before this announcement.
So...what do you think?

The parked 170's are coming back. They are already shown operating AA flights in November. Also, the leases on those aircraft have been extended for an unknown amount of time(specifics were redacted). That information is all available via prime clerk.
RAH is not trying to get rid of the 170's, they just wanted better lease terms.
