Okay, so at least until end of August. Thanks.

If I were to commute from IAH what could I expect as far as starting times on trips and ending times. Would I find myself coming in the night before often?

What kind of issues are you guys having with the Reserve rules? What will be gained or lost in the grievance?

I'm sure it's in this thread, but I was just looking for a Reader's Digest answer.

Thanks

Our reserve system is supposed to allow us to proffer or preference for trips or raps the day prior. With the most senior person getting what they want and on down. Sorta like daily bidding. However the company unilaterally decided that on day 1 of reserve everyone will be preassigned rap 1. This has lead to senior pilots proffering for rap 2 and being ignored even though junior pilots were awarded rap 2. They are ignoring the seniority system in regards to that, so obviously there are some upset people. The company is refusing to negotiate with us either so it looks like an arbitrator is going to have to make the decision.

I hate to throw a log on this fire...but do any of you remember the reason why the pre-assigned RAP1 thing started in the first place?

Hints: the DFW Captain rep and encouraging reserve pilots NOT to confirm their assignments therefore defaulting to RAP2.

It was all fun and games for a while. The company scrambled to staff morning flights since everyone was on RAP2. Line holders like me got the deepest shaft since we would be pulled from our regular trips to cover these flights. Ric Wilson got POd and decided to push back even harder..hence what we have now.

Also JW before RW offered two fairly "sweet" loas that the union turned their nose to.

We for year have been plagued with alot of games internally and unfortunately the loser has been the line pilot.

So who was wrong? Pilots for "working the system" or Ric for ****ting on the contract and allegedly holding Rsv hostage until satellite bases get approved?

When these types of games are played, everyone is wrong and it's the line pilots who take the brunt of the consequences.

You are leaving out important parts of the story. The above came about because of part 117 changes. Those changes were known about for 2 years. Also, we were all assuming we were about to be "comair part 2" as they swore to us we were about to be. And lastly: we were following the contract we signed. RW isn't.
