That being said. The current envoy flow paradigm didn't become what it is today through one contractual negotiation. It has evolved through several negotiation periods which is why there are several distinct groups established. The AAG/envoy management didn't do this by mistake. You can expect that in a few years, perhaps during the next Section 6 negotiating period, they will suggest that the pilots hired after Oct 2013, those currently in the 15 per month group, will do up to 25 or 30 a month in exchange for whatever management wants from the pilots at the time. You will then have another group established at the flow will go back to 15 a month for someone hired after that signing date.

I don't agree with it. I don't think that as a union we should allow for a separation of employees to receive different compensation but it is what it is. A new hire today can expect to be confronted with the decision of accepting a certain contract attached to a greater flow provision or reject the contractual change and maintain the 15 flows per month.
Why is there this "slow down" to 15 a month later? If anything with the upcoming retirements there should be an increase in flow. The flow is obviously beneftiial to guys with good seniority there now but seems like the new guys will not move on as advertised 4 to 5 years. How do they come up with that number?

Well it was contractually negotiated and part of which was arbitrated. The 5-6 year flow is only going to happen for guys that get in now. After we start hiring more than 30 per month then the expected flow dates will start to increase.

I'd go with Math.

Who cares about this really. We have upgrades and flow to AA.

The flow allows them to keep you in your seat at the regionals. The number they flow fluctuates on how bad they need you to stay because of people leaving or getting hired elsewhere. The increased amount of retirements or people leaving mainline does not mean they will flow more. I can assure you there is not a shortage of applicants to fill that void. If they still need people to fill the seats or are growing at their regionals, then the flow number will remain low.

Do we have to give the entire history of every contract negotiation, multi-party talk, and arbitration argument and award over the last two decades that led to the current flowthrough agreements? It's long and complicated and has evolved and this is what is on the books right now. And surely it will change even more. I don't think you are going to get an easy answer.

And yes, you are correct, the flow is currently more beneficial to the pilots who have been waiting years of their lives for it compared to those who haven't.

There is a breakdown of the flow groups on this site, it's in the airline profiles section.

How are they going to know if my wife works for a place that could insure her?

Are you serious, do you realize how much that is for a family. You'll be the guy at AA saying "give up scope, for 2% raise"
