500-300= 200/12 = 18 per month on average leaving. Seems high.
A lot of people I talk to are still considering leaving just because of the horrific schedules. Our schedules have literally never been even close to as bad as they are now. They're saying they'll get better in January, but haven't they been telling us for over a year now that they are just about to get better? And they keep getting worse. Some people are sick of being strung along and lied to.

Sorry. New hires won't flow in 3 years. Is that what you wanted to hear? After the last of the protected pilots go (2011 hires). It will take less than a year to get through the 2014 pilots. So in 2020 to 2021 there will be 2015 hires flowing. Pretty good back up plan if you can't get hired by a major in the meantime.

Out of curiousity (I haven't started training yet)....what exactly is the issues with schedules? Low block? Not commutable? Bad times? 7 legs? Crappy overnights?

Every thing you said minus the 7 legs. Lots of 11 12 days off. 72hr lines.

Yes. Yes. Yes. No. Yes and no.

The big issue is the time away from base. We are away from home much, much more than ever before, while our block times are still low. And this has been going on for over a year now, seemingly getting worse every month.

I have not seen anyone reference crashpads. What it the usual arrangement? I understand the company will pay for a few hotel nights. Particularly interested in DFW.

Hotels are pretty cheap around here about 50 dollars out the door. Most people get by without having a crash pad. It's not hard to get over nights on reserve. You might have to be a little proactive by calling crew scheduling and asking for something if it opens up. Most FOs on reserve in DFW don't want to fly because we live here.

Does that mean relatively short reserve sentence because more senior guys who live in DFW area bid reserve hoping to NOT fly?

It's a shorter reserve than it could be yes.
