Simple...
Sounds to me like some one (fed observer) was covering his button at the degradation of the other indoc student (both in the
Wrong). Action taken to a higher level incase the instructor reported both behaviors.
CYA folks, they are on the clock & getting paid.
FEDS MINDSET: I'm not actively observing you, but I am aware of you. Indirectly... because I'm the Fed getting paid on the Fed's dime, and want you comfortable, and to be yourselves. My job is not to observe you, but I can't help it because I'm the fed.
Folks... Any Federal offical who is off duty that observes a reportable activity has the obligation to call it in. It's his duty both on or off duty! You observe & give your opinions, because your an Aviation Legend. Like Geico... "It's what you do."

Yes. The gentleman watching videos on YouTube had the volume off. Nobody even knew he was watching a video.
The FAA rep, however, was always loud and making comments and giving his opinion as well as making loud jokes with a class member sitting next to him.
Edit: spelling.
You shouldn't be on YouTube during indoc. But is it necessary to flex your FAA muscles and make a permanent mark on someone's career on their first week of their 121 career?

175 reserve seems to be about 4-5 months maybe a bit less. They only offered 6 spots for my class and they didn't even think they'd be offering any at all, so unless you're in the older range for your indoc class dont count on getting a 175 slot at all

I was surprised about the 6 slots. I thought the 175 program had a backlog until dec/jan classes.
How's reserve, 4am show first day. Then 5am to 5pm or 9am to 9pm. With a handfull of airport standby every day?

4 am is a pre assigned thing for your first day. if there are open trips you can proffer for them the day prior and they are awarded in seniority order. Every day you can proffer for open trips. if you aren't awarded or don't want a trip you will get a 4 am or 10 am reserve availability period. And airport standby is given out starting at he bottom of the list and working it's way up, unless you want it.
