I'm going to be commuting either way since I'll be living in SLC, which has 10+ flights a day to ORD or DFW. BUT if I get stuck with LGA that's automatically a two leg commute (a long one) which is a whole different ball game.

I'm really hoping for an Envoy base opening in PHX or LAX next year, but Compass has that already. AND their line holders have 15-16 days off and still flying 80-90 hours.
(and yes they are starting an RTP soon)

I know Compass is less stable than a WO. Got it. I know I could eventually get ORD or DFW. Just sooth me with some speculation.

Speculate for me on a western base for Envoy in the next 12 months and schedules getting better at Envoy. --- I already told my wife she won't see me for the first year. Sad, since we are getting out of the Army because we're tired of deployments but this is worth it in the long run!
My biggest word of warning when considering Compass is definitely the stability, as you pointed out. The biggest thing I'd be worried about are the 20 175s that AAG decides where they go. Compass has a contract on those 20 planes for another 2ish years. After that, AAG very well could send those planes elsewhere. Compass guys will tell you there's no way in hell that they'll lose those planes, but it's a definite possibility. If they do in fact lose those 20 planes, that will be extremely bad for them over there to say the least.

You know how to calculate bingo fuel in a hold? Ok, superstar..next thing you'll tell us is you know how to calculate a proper decent path to an outstation. Or that you can properly identify all those doors and exhaust vents on the walk around.

Really? VS -1.5 and an "unable" for all crossing restrictions works for descent planning pretty well for me

I'll throw out at least two or three "unable" per leg. In honor of my hero Sully.

His response should have been "above my paygrade"

To be fair, bingo fuel is a CA calculation unless you were just messing with him because he wanted to upgrade.

I'm hoping one is when metering tells you to monitor 121.75. You gotta show them who the **** is in charge.

Yeah. A CA calculation that can be delegated if the FO is PM.

There should be three calculations - CA, FO, and dispatch in that situation.

Whenever I calculate a BINGO, I also have the FO come up with one. It serves to check my math, make sure we are in agreement, and to be sure that they have been taught how. If they can't do it, fine, great learning moment. CRM.
