If it's an MEC news blast it is bad news. If it's a special announcement through the @aa.com email account with a corresponding HI6 about be sure to read the email sent to your email, then it's good news.

Have to say, not thrilled with the tone that to settle the grievance we have to give up something not related. I understand a settlement is something in middle of what we both want and it is in BOTH of our interests to settle outside of the grievance process, but giving up something else as well will feel like a loss.

That email was cringey. Protected Pilots? Great for them, they've paid their dues, but does the union care about the rest of us at all? The answer is painfully obvious.
Looking forward to the announcement that 5 more of the all-important Protected Pilots will be flowing per month... in exchange for voiding the flow-through agreement for all other pilots, who will get a sweet guaranteed interview opportunity instead.

If i understand it correctly the company are the ones that violated the contract agreed upon...So why do we have to give something up to settle their violation?

To say the very least. You have no idea what the PPs have been through. A bankruptcy, $25/hr starting pay, 2 concessionary contracts, having planes sent away to other carriers, threat of shutting the airline down and being on the street without a job, 8 year upgrade, endless rsv, no commuter hotels, etc....Some of you entitled new guys that think they're owed the world aren't going to get a lot of sympathy. Not that I think taking the flow away for post-PPs is okay, and frankly it's not even close to being something of reality. And you do realize that even if something happened and only the PPs got more flow, that translates to quicker flow for everyone downstream.
Kicking the can down the road, and I got mine attitude is how regionals came to be in the first place.
