Anyone know if the union is working on anything right now? (Reserve rules, pay, etc.)

Also any rumors on possible bases, or are we likely to just see the current 4 for the foreseeable future?

In respect to new bases, no body knows. Not even the managers know what to expect. When mia opened, the managers didn't know it was opening until the day before it was announced.

LAX has been coming back since 2012 so there is always that.

With an additional 25 175's coming online they will need to go somewhere. Not sure of the net gain in gates at DFW, with the re modeled E satellite terminal, and AA taking some B gates.

Chicago seems out of space.

-Keep the dirty side down

Good point. Maybe MIA will be back on the drawing board again soon.

That's not even remotely true. When NY and MIA reopened, not only did MGMT know well in advance, but the MEC and Negotiating Committee were privy to it in advance as well under NDA. As far as what can be expected in the coming future, MGMT has indicated to ALPA that no new bases are on the horizon. Instead, Envoy will focus on bolstering up current bases.

Regarding pay, I keep continually hearing (both from union reps I run into and via the same emails we’ve all gotten) that pay increases are off the table until Envoy sees a slowdown in hiring beyond what they need. Right now, there’s a backlog of new hire FOs waiting on a date and the company seems willing to wait until the waive of 2016 and 2017 FO hires are qualified for captain so I wouldn’t expect any movement on this front any time soon.

Regarding reserve rules, I’ve heard multiple times they are working on reserve rules with the company and the expectation is something positive. I will not speculate on what that is. I know what I would like to see but I don’t know what you’d like to see and a discussion of that here might be counter productive to the negotiations.

That NDA for Miami came about a year before the base opened, not because management was sure of its reopening but simply to be ready if and when American gave them the green light. Nonetheless they weren't sure if it was ever reopening. American management are the ones who pull the strings. This is coming straight from managements mouth.
