Urban legend. Any quick donning mask seals 100% fine with facial hair, the note on the mask is from a faulty test done in the 80's.
Everywhere else in the world (plus firefighters etc), the mask works fine with facial hair.
SFU study busts myth about facial hair on pilots - SFU News - Simon Fraser University
Almost every study that has been conducted since the 80's (or actually I think early 70's when this myth first got released) has ended with the same conclusion.
"The report concludes that, “The policy was based on outdated research on obsolete equipment and testing on respirators not intended for aircrew oxygen delivery.” Ferguson adds, “We found no adverse effects on bearded subjects within the two parameters of our study.”"

How can we go about getting beards approved here in the US. this is ridiculous, we can all have a well groomed beard that looks professional. This whole mask-beard makes no sense, the AC funded study just debunked that myth. I think we should all start talking to our union reps and make a move on this issue. I want a beard so bad!

How can we go about getting Mohawks approved here in the US. this is ridiculous, we can all have a well groomed and styled Mohawk that looks professional. This whole short hair, combed over, 1950's look makes no sense. I think we should all start talking to our union reps and make a move on this issue. I want a Mohawk so bad!
And while we're on the subject; I want to be able to have full sleeve tatoos, and be able to wear short sleeves with them. The tats can be respectable. Tats, nor a Mohawk, affect my ability to operate an airplane safely at all. Oh, I want a viking beard too. Come on Union, fight for my right to non-conform!!!

Let's cut to the facts, if they can pass a bill to study single pilot airline operations. I'm sure beards can be approved as well.

And why isn’t there a kilt option for the men’s uniform? Where’s my union?!

So I know this has been discussed before, but how would someone ask about time off to get married to the CP? I of course plan to bid for my vacation time during the wedding and honeymoon time. But in the event that I don't get that time off.... I'm still not coming to work...
Basically does anyone have any ideas of how that should be worded to the CP to say that I am trying to get this time off to get married, but in case I don't get that time off for vacation... I'm still not coming to work... thanks in advance!
