Training is excellent. Instructors want you to succeed.

By far one of the most respected and efficient training programs in the industry. The peers I know at SW and United have told me their training at XJT was a lot better than their SW/United new hire training.

Awesome replies thus far! What specifically makes them more respected and efficient compared to so many other 121 carriers?

The plus side of having a senior pilot group is that you have very senior instructors. On the LASA side you’d be hard pressed to find an instructor with less than 20 years experience. I’m not familiar with the LXJT side, but I think it’s about the same (the departments are merged now).
This translates into having instructors who have “been there, done that, and got the t-shirt”. If you have a weakness they have probably seen it a million times before. Listen to them, ask questions and relax in the sim and you should make it through.

The experience of the instructors. The syllabus of the program. Everyone at that company strives to ensure your successful. The program manager is a phenomenal person. Everyone in the training department is awesome to work with. It's a non threatening environment. Resources are available to you 24/7 during training such as the training center oral rooms, ability observe sim sessions. They also utilize an actual ERJ FTD for procedure training, not a flat panel device.

And probably 20 years of experience as an instructor!

Wow! That’s amazing! Didn’t know XJT was so admired in the training category! Really took some worries and stresses off my shoulders

Yes! And this quality translates into a good reputation at the majors. I was just at a job fair talking to the LCC and all said they know Xjet produces good pilots and they like hiring them.

This is exactly why I’m going there. My brother was with XJT and then different regional for upgrade. After XJT training he thought the one in his new company was laughable. It has to be beneficial, especially for the first type rating.

My only concern is the 7 year upgrade at XJT. I know it goes to show that XJT is loved by the more senior pilot group (it looks that way anyways), but getting that 1000 PIC is still valuable, even in this hiring environment. Choices, choices..
