Quote: he just doesn't get it. If XJT guys take concessions to get cost below C5 it would be better to just shut down and go to Republic or Skywest. Senior guys advocating for concessions so they can stay senior even if financially they'd be better off starting over someplace else.
Neither are hiring nor will they for a very long time.

Quote: On the hold the line sentiment. If ALPA was half the union it thought it was it would be a lot easier to do so. If unions at ULCCs LCCs and majors would say i got you fam and put said group on a shortlist for hiring. Or if regionals had a default time served that let you start not getting fkd with newbie FO pay.

Or we could have one list and the only people getting furloughed would be people new to the industry. .... Nope every man for themselves gotta protect that chance at 330 dollars am hour.
This is the reality. The big ALPAs with the actual leverage to do things like require all regional feed to be flown by ALPA carriers with minimum pay rates to prevent whipsaw get what they deserve when the race to the bottom hampers their own pattern bargaining.

I understand it feels counterproductive to spend negotiating capital on someone else but the current crap rates are why Kirby won't even entertain the notion of putting large RJs on the United certificate. Doing whatever it takes to force those rates higher is the only hope of recapturing scope.

Maybe it's cool to come back from furlough to $150k but those years of lost wages have huge costs from a time value of money standpoint.

just using them as an example. it is a zero sum game more or less with covid but won't be forever.

Quote: Lets say XJT comes down to right above or even to match commutair, how does that drag down the industry as a whole when Mesa, commutair, air Wisconsin, Gojet and the former trans states are already on that level. It’s been one thing to lower the standard it’s entirely different to match the brand average.
lol if you knew anything about Whiskey’s work rules, soft pay, and most importantly health insurance you wouldn’t lump us in there. Whiskey has better insurance than mainline.

unions don’t control hiring. H.R. does.

And the 200s at Whiskey wont survive this either.

Food stamps/EBT gov. assistance is temporary. Being a scab is for life. No getting off the list!

The reason XJT lost the 175s was mainly due to poor management and Mesa offering UA to buy the 20 new Ejets themselves instead of UA having to front the bill for XJT. When XJT was outmaneuvered and UA was not going to expand that fleet for them they had no choice.

His next move will be to not lease the 20 700s to GoJet that he promised (pre-covid) and convert them himself to 550s. UA will then pull the 550s from GoJet and they will also go to Mesa. Talks were already being made on the last earnings call for Mesa to expand to ORD and EWR with the 550s and the new Ejets will be in IAD.

Say what you want about the man. He seems to always slither his way into great deals.
dont count AWAC out on the 550’s. Mgmt isn’t putting them on the operating certificate just for fun.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯. We were talking about upholding the profession, which Whiskey has done. They’ve also been around longer and been through more fleet changes than just about any other regional carrier in existence.

What has your airline done to keep our profession well compensated?

They’ve been saying the -200 is dead for over a decade, yet we’re still printing money with it. When it finally does kick the bucket, I’m sure the airline that bailed out Airways in the last recession has a plan.

The idea that someone is willing to leave the industry before they'd consider dragging it down for personal gain is really that ludicrous to you?
