This is 100% correct. I've been the most junior CA in base and still had a line due to pre-assigned credit. While I was thrilled and enjoyed the benefits of this, I did not think it was fair to all of the pilots senior to me.
If we do move forward with PBS in the future, this is something I'd like to see changed. Other than that, I really do enjoy PBS. I was totally sketched out about it for a while, but have learned more about the system and enjoy the flexibility and options it brings.

The only way that it does affect the senior folks is that when you don't get a reserve line you can pick up and swap trips, etc. That could be adjusted though. Keep the benefit of not being on reserve when on vacation, but not be able to pick up extra open time, etc.
I dunno. I think overall PBS has been a huge improvement for us. I get why the ERJ guys don't like it. They had a sweet deal that eventually will go away. Get your time, and get out. Everyone will be hiring like gangbusters in a year or two.

Yeah, it's a little weird for sure, but in actuality it doesn't affect the senior guys since the only thing you get assigned are pairings that don't get picked up by anyone else. If a 4 day or two filter through the people above you and are enough to complete your schedule, you get the benefit of having a couple weeks off without worrying about scheduling tracking you down or moving your days off.

Why not bring back relief lines? There's going to be left over pairings regardless of PBS. That would eliminate the "lucky line holders".

The two posts they were apparently referring to had nothing to do with senior pilots. It was about the lucky lineholder aspect of our pbs and the junior line holders and reserve pilots it affects. The quoted poster went off on some weird tangent. I've already had my say about lucky lineholder so I won't rehash that. I was just really confused about the tangent and how they got there.

Great news! Have they told you where they are shipping you guys too? I'm sure it won't be until the 11th after the final awards are posted. Good luck in ground school bro! Look forward to meeting all of you out on the line.
