He signed his name to those comments. If the guy who is posting under the name "SAABoroowski" on this thread isn't EWR FO Rep Joe Costanza, as his forum signature claims, I will retract my statement, apologize to anyone named Joe Costanza, and suggest to the administrators over at the Pipe that they deal with the imposter accordingly.
And sadly, sitting on unemployment would have been a better deal that starting over again or being on first year pay.

Just reading his words at face value. You can hold the righteous indignation.
Here's one little nugget of compassion from an elected union representative (again, if this SAABoroowski fellow is impersonating a union rep, I will of course admit I was suckered and retract my complaints):
"relax, if you do get furloughed, it's only temporary, you won't see much of a difference financially, and your quality of life will improve because you'll be home with your family"
Yeah, my "temporary" was over a year of living at a much lower standard of living than even on first year pay (unemployment only paid 60% of the average of my *gross* earnings from the previous five quarters), and let me tell you... being even poorer and unable to find any good work to provide for my family was a real boost to my QOL.

They have no problem throwing my name around over there on the PIPE...It isn't hearsay, it's posted right there for everyone to read.

You're missing the point and being childish in the process. Plain and simple, as ATRdriver says, If that is him, he is an out of touch rep who needs to be thrown out now. If it isn't, the poster needs to be taken care of by the mods. Your argument about "because its on a forum you can't believe it for certain" is invalid by ATRdrivers modest comment of if it is an imposter he takes back his comments.

Maybe you should take a gander at the pipe, ALL of it and what was said for yourself. A mountain out of molehill is being made, and JoeMerchant certainly took the bait in ANOTHER thread. If you can't bother to read the WHOLE thing, maybe it's you that's being "childish"?

xjtguy,
While I don't always agree with Joe, I don't think he's off on this one. I read that post on the Pipe for myself and can't believe that an ALPA rep would actually write something like that. He's clearly lost touch with representing all pilots and their best interest, whether they're a probie or a 20 year captain.
Unfortunately, I think the hornets nest has been stirred up over there and people are losing sight of the forest through the trees. The FUPM attitude isn't going to gain LXJT any friends or sympathy from the ASA side. At least it isn't for me.
We need to be working together, not against each other (easier said than done) to achieve a common goal without losing sight of that goal of a better contract! Unfortunately, it seems for some this may be getting blurred with anger and bitterness, where prospective is lost and "burning it down" becomes the new goal.
I hope for you, me, and every single pilot at this airline that emotions can be checked, priorities re-evaluated, and egos left at the door by our MEC's. The track we're currently on is toxic, and unproductive. Hopefully this can be arrested before it gets too out of hand.
