Sounds like the attrition train is chugging right along!

You can expect hiring to continue for 2013 at a rate of 2 classes per month. After May, expecting a minimum of 26 per month with the possibility of larger classes depending on attrition. Specific aircraft hiring is unknown at this time.
Source on this hiring data? Hopefully some go to both sides

Pilot Staffing Update; Summer Outlook
Staffing is always a hot topic with everybody, particularly for the summer. As I mentioned last month, we have a CRJ new-hire class in progress, and we’re also in the process of hiring 48 ERJ pilots.
It’s going to be a busy summer, as always. The good news is, on the ERJ side we have an increase in block hours for the remainder of the year, and we’ll be hiring monthly for the remainder of the year it appears at this time. We’ll have more information on that going forward, but based on the block hours that have been added on the ERJ side at United, and with flight time/duty time, we’ll continue to hire to meet those needs.

Is it still considered attrition when it's a lot of junior people quitting because there is no real movement and reserve at a regional airline for years is hardly a career? Hiring is going on but I haven't moved a whole lot. With numbers like 2 classes per month and 7-8 year upgrade is............well interesting.

Yes:

at·tri·tion

/əˈtrɪʃən/ Show Spelled [uh-trish-uhn]
noun 1. a reduction or decrease in numbers, size, or strength.
2. a wearing down or weakening of resistance, especially as a result of continuous pressure or harassment: The enemy surrounded the town and conducted a war of attrition.
3. a gradual reduction in work force without firing of personnel, as when workers resign or retire and are not replaced.

Latest announcement of hiring doesn't mention future CRJ classes, only ERJ. ERJ classes every month for the rest of the year to keep up with attrition, increased block hours and upcoming FT/DT regs.

I guess there is "Healthy" attrition and "Regional" attrition. I'd prefer to know there are more retirements and career progressions up the line. I tend to not get too excited about the list getting shorter below me. But oh well....
