I'm starting to realize that the bucket isn't an indication of how many reserve crew members are available for the companies dispose. I have had a few trips in which I've had to call in sick and there were zero pilots in the bucket before hand. Yet when you go back and look to see who they assigned your trip there is a nice fresh happy to do it reserve guy. Everytime! It's like they have a secret stash of reserves hidden in the basement.

If the reserve is not technically on reserve that day, then they are not on the list. If they are on a trip, or sitting Ready Reserve and scheduling removed the reserve portion before the RRR, then they will not show up. Most likely they tagged someone finishing a trip, or a Ready Reserve.
