Let's see if can be clear enough with you and all the other institutionalized pilots on the CRJ side:
IT IS NOT THE JOB OF THE PILOTS TO KEEP THE COMPANY PROFITABLE, IT IS MANAGEMENT'S JOB.
Therein the two differences in cultures. The crj side is drowning in the kool aid, and yet no one can publicly post any numbers that support that the ERJ contract (and further gains) are not cost effective. On the ERJ side we understand that the job of the pilot is to fly the aircraft safely within company policies and guidelines, not keeping the company afloat, Jerry gets paid a lot more money than we do to manage this "thuper" regional.

Then again, screw it, lets just get the best contract ever, I say 100% pay raises, 200% for everything credit, 100% 401k match, 20 days off a month, no one works weekends, no reserve for anyone, all 3 day trips, $5/hr per diem. Or wait, is this not enough? I think I hear reacharound screaming from the corner thats its BS and we deserve more... We are a regional for god's sake, we need everything mainline has, then more.

I don't think you will see one that is too rich. If you do, no one is going to be turning it down. Then again, your not going to be seeing too many "rich" contracts in this industry. If you do, start looking for another job in a few years, all the bottom feeders are going to be snatching up everything you have when the next contract or RFP comes up.

It's naive to think we're all asking for a bulletproof, insanely exaggerated contract like that. But, why should we accept anything worse than what we currently have? Where does it end? Are you saying we should all take pay cuts to compete? Should we get rid of cancellation pay? Maybe we shouldn't get paid for deadheads? Or ferry flights should be 50%? Maybe captains and FOs should be paid the same? Maybe reserves shouldn't get a monthly guarantee? Etc...
I think it's in our best interest to look out for our own best interest.

As abrasive as "reacharound" can be, he's got a point. It's not the pilot's job to look out for the company. What you're proposing sounds dangerously like a race-to-the-bottom mentality. Should we give up QOL just because the other guys do it?

I think a lot of the CRJ guys are making perfect sense. No one is saying what we have now will suffice. We want better pay and QOL like you ERJ guys. We just know better not to expect the moon. When your company competes against other regionals for the same flying, it makes it difficult to get that 747 CA pay flying a 50 seat RJ. Until our company sells its own tickets, we are just a contract worker feeding off the breast milk of another company.
Yes to pay raises
Yes to better QOL
No to the moon
Yes to getting the F out of this god forsaken regional!
Cheers

Actually, Klopek, it is our responsibility to look out for the company on every leg we fly. That doesn't mean we are responsible for the company as a whole, but taking responsibility for what we do have control over is important. Like my grandma used to say, "you got to dance with the one that brung ya!". If you take money from ExpressJet (either side), you have a responsibility to ExpressJet. If you aren't willing to accept that responsibility, you shouldn't take the money.
As far as our contract is concerned, we all want the best contract we can get. Most of the guys I have spoken to just want to make sure that as we make QOL gains, we don't price ourselves out of the market. While most of us would like to go to a major, we would also like to remain employed until then.

There's an interesting undertone from a few of the ERJ ExpressJet guys on here. I don't know if it's a self-conscious thing because your company was acquired (by Skyw Inc.). If it's some sort of over compensation because you have an inferiority complex of some sort (I don't understand why you would). Or, if you are just a couple of jackasses trying to get a rise out of the CRJ guys and create a divide on the ERJ. Goaround, for your sake I really hope you are just trolling. The crap you spew and te dissent you try to create is 1. Not based on facts, what TA are you talking about!? And 2. Is going to do nothing to better this company . Unfortunately there are people who read this stuff and don't know better than to look past the crap you write and realize you are full of it. Nevets. Well, you used to make sense but your delivery these days sounds more like a desperate broken record. I've written you off too.
To those who are either new to this business or new to reading these boards, please take what these guys write with a huge grain of salt. It is this divisiveness and distribution of "facts" by a few people with agendas that will do nothing but drive you crazy and make you angry. That's what they want!
I've met so many ERJ XJT crews this year and I am really looking forward to working along side them in the future. I won't let a few jerks from your side effect my opinion of you, and I hope you will do the same for us.

Breaking News *News Flash*
This just in from the mouths of the all knowing. Oh and the training department too. (sarcasm in case you couldn't tell)
Training Dept - Extended over water ops on some of the 50s. This has already started.
All Knowing - CRJ side will be the first to take a 2 for 1 deal on aircraft we lease. I'm hearing around 20-30. Those airplanes will then be transfered to AA out of Miami. The 70s or 90s will be DTW based.
And in other news the Lotto is up to 86 million.
Cheers
