ASA guys...if scheduling tells you to stick around for an hr are you contractually or FOM required to call them after that hr is up. Can someone provide me with the answer? This seems to be a gray area.

I don't think I make to much. I'm worth what I can negotiate. So this pilot is willing to risk everything. Bring it on! If XJT goes away. I'll be making what I'm making now within two years. Yeah, I willn't have the days off but hey I can live with that. Full pay till the last day!

Heck, I'll just enjoy Obama money for two years. While on unenjoyment!

Unfortunately, I'm the minority that didn't put all my eggs in one basket most of these guys live pay check to pay check. So there gonna do what they have too just to survive.

Yes. Just make sure you wait until 1 hour and 1 minute...

Actually- no. You don't have to call back. It's plainly written in the scheduling section of the CRJ contract. If you have not been given an assignment by the end of your 1 hour airport standby, you are released from the airport. You are still on reserve, but you can leave (a call from that point on means I will be at the airport in 2 hours, for a departure 3 hours later).

The contract says that after 1 hour you will either be permitted to leave the airport, remaining on-call and on-duty, or you will be released to domicile rest. You need to call scheduling to find out which option they are choosing. It does not say that you are automatically released.

This came up on grievance and it was put in the FOM that you have to call.

MOU 16: "A reserve pilot is required to call scheduling after completion of an assignment unless he receives specific notice to be released via an electronic process."
Once they add on the hour wait, I think it's considered to be part of the assignment (we get per diem), so the assignment isn't complete until the hour is over, then you have to call again.

Who the eff cares if you should call them or not? Back when I was on reserve I'd head straight home. Never called. Ever. If they are set up enough to notice that you didn't call, then they would have assigned you something already. If I've got nothing on my schedule, I head home. Sorry, last time I checked I was an adult. So I'll just treat myself like one.

I don't know if this could be fixed since as someone mentioned it is part of the FOM. I don't think the L-XJT guys have to go through any of this (maybe one of them could chime in). There are a lot of loopholes in the current contract which the company has exploited. They know the whole grievance process only benefits them, so they will continue to do what they want. Hopefully there will be tighter language in the upcoming TA. I will probably have to read it about 10 times to understand, but willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that I vote properly.
