I just figured I would ask around and see what everyone has heard recently on the status of negotiations and recent hiring news. Now that the AA flying has been announced, and with the latest meeting in Denver, I was curious to hear about anything new. ExpressJet also has about 30-40 pilots swimming in the pool. Any new news?!

AA flying isn't bringing in any additional aircraft; they're just shifting some over from Delta. Unless attrition picks up, my guess is that we're probably not going to hire the rest of the year, at least on the ERJ side. All recent company messages have stated our staffing levels are "adequate".

That's what I thought, but why are they hiring into a pool? All I can figure is that they are expecting hiring soon, or they are trying to suck up all the qualified applicants before the new flight time requirements go into effect. (after all, it does cost money to interview folks.)

My guess is the later.

Agreed! But how long do they expect them to swim!

They're probably just making sure they have a decent amount of people to put into class(es) should attrition accelerate. If United and Delta start to hire the existing pool will drain pretty quickly even if only a few classes are announced. Even though the flight time requirements are going up for applicants I don't think it will be as hard to find people as most people think. I'm sure the ATP requirements will change enough so that 141 grass or military pilots can get in with less than current ATP mins.

Still keep hearing this "50 room Houston hotel booking for October" rumor. If that were true wouldn't they already have
A. Announced a class already and
B. for ERJ not CRJ since every rumor seems to point to crj lately
?..

Good luck to everyone in the pool I hope for calls very soon

50 rooms could be for anyone. Flight Attendants, mechanics, ticket and ramp agents, they all train in IAH.

Wrong hotel in IAH though. The hotel with the block of rooms is at the erj recurrent / upgrade training hotel.
