Public or not - that still doesn't allow you to do stupid / unprofitable stuff.

You can waste all of your own private $$ you want...see Las Vegas as one example. Just because it is stupid doesn’t make it illegal.

Privately held companies may be satisfied with a lower ROI than can be sustained by a publicly held company. Especially a publicly held subsidiary.

Not sure how legality plays a role here....

The point is that just because a company is privately held doesn't mean that normal economic principles / rationale applies.

In turn it is irrelevant whether they are public or not.

And to the original point - Air Wiskey obviously can generate a return at a smaller scale.

XJT could probably do the same - but not without some very painful re-org.

Kudos to the XJT pilot that pulled the plug and shut down the ATL.

This is what United is looking to buy and why CommutAir didn’t work.

If they don’t act soon it’s going to be too little too late. I have a feeling a mass exodus is going to happen once bonus checks are received. Curious to hear what kind stuff they’ll spew on the conference call later. Always a lot of words spoken with not much being said.
