By my calculations, assuming you are working all 24 days in a month, the annual salary for a Phenom 100 driver is $85,600, or a daily rate of $297 a day (288 days per year).

PICs get paid 250 for anything over 20. 450 applies to hard days and holidays.

I know a guy or two working 24 days a month here and they are ready to walk out.

My new personal rules of thumb are to

- never leave home without at least a weeks worth of clothes

- expect a 14 hour duty day every day on rotation

- never trust your schedule until 1 - 2 days out

- on a busy day, eat when you can, sometimes its tough to get food with quick turns everywhere

- request vacation at the max allowable mark ( 6 months) for big events/holidays/etc

- don't hassle with booking hotels/rental cars etc until the night before, the day of being more desirable ( to avoid cancellation woes left and right)

- facetime is an invaluable tool to see the kid / wife / friends / pet ferret (?)

remember the schedule is extremely fluid and our schedulers are playing a game of chess with half the pieces missing right now. one person calls off or one jet breaks and the system collapses. once staffing comes up things should get a little bit better, but schedule changes are still required for pilot longevity in mine and others humble opinions

EAS is a diamond in the rough, with patience and a bit of luck i think we could all be very happy here eventually

I don't think managements comments to my face of "working on it" and "fixing the staffing and schedule flaws" were sincere a month ago or two months ago.

Pay doesn't bring me happiness. Being realistic with schedule and duty expectations does though. A computer is running this company and is ruining a lot of good things it used to have. Company likes the computer cus it's easier and might save money. But no care has been given to the lifestyle affects of it's people. Time off with family and little ones does make me happy and having a schedule like I was promised on the phone interview and formal interview.
Wow,

Some of my friends there had expressed their serious concerns about Astro to EAS management and were told that Astro was going to be kept on a tight leash and not "optimized" constantly, thus avoiding Avantair's mistake of abusing its crews and alienating its customers. Astro's website mentions nothing about human factors because it doesn't take them into account whatsoever. And if you look at Astro's programmers, you can see that these aren't touchy-feely human factors types, they are the same types that wanted to have our space capsules with no portholes and no autonomy. Astro would work great if it was Skynet from Terminator and was just controlling drones instead of those pesky humans. Hopefully you guys can get Astro under control before it wreaks havoc there. DayJet, Avantair,... Yeah, Astro is great..

Good luck and fly safe..

Do you guys book your own hotels on trips? How does that work out, expense account I assume?

Yes, we book our own hotel and rental cars when out on trips. I don't mind it because we can select what hotel we stay at. We have a limit that we go by and can only go over with managments approval. I only make reservations now the day of or the night before because the schedule changes so much.

I understand that, I work at EAS as well, and PIC days over 20 are 450. Just curious where you got 250 from.

What is your limit per night on hotels?
