And you just happened to hear this? 😂 if you think most of our pilots leaving don’t have TPIC time you are Delusional

Well, I originally deleted my post but I don’t want people selling themselves short.

Had ~10 ULCC guys in my legacy new-hire class out of about 50. About 8 of us had 0 TPIC.

Apply for the job you want.

TPIC from their time at the regionals or corporate, sure. But the vast majority of our attrition is coming from the new hire to 2 year range. Yes, there’s the occasional anecdotal captain leaving from here, but there is a lot more talk than action. I’ve flown with a ton of FOs looking to leave. I also have a lot of captain friends. None of which are leaving. A few know a one off person here or there who had put their app out, but even admitted it doesn’t mean they’ll leave if offered. It’s a big decision and risk for someone on this side of the seniority list. Attrition from the captain side just isn’t the issue you continue to make it out to be.

Yea, it was in my new hire class this week…and yes, most FOs getting hired from the ULCCs have little to no TPIC. Take it as you will

WaterRooster, if I can ask, were you left or right seat? What was the reason for leaving? Dream job? Better bases? Or, just flat out don’t believe in F9 anymore? I’m not trying to sling poop. I’m genuinely curious since I believe you’ve been here awhile.

I was junior Left seat. I really did enjoy it here and I think in the end I would have been happy but it was a “what’s best if the family” decision. I’ll be based at home on the west coast. Other then that I was starting to struggle how the company squeezed its pennies. No catering, potable water is ok to drink and then lately the sick call memos/section 19’s and closing ORD which seems to be nothing more then vindictive. I’m probably leaving one devil for the other but at least I’m going in with eyes wide open.

What I’m going to miss are the crews. There is no denying that this pilot group was one of the best groups I have ever flown with. Management though… Ugh….

^^^^This 100%^^^^

This could be such an awesome home. I know it’s a ULCC, but that doesn’t always mean it has to act or look like it.

Just curious, was there any sort of exit interview or anywhere to convey these thoughts on your way out? I know it’s not your job or problem but I wish SOMEONE would listen…

Thanks for that. It definitely sounds like you made the right call if you’re a west coaster and I wish you the best of luck. If I lived in a junior base for UAL I’d have probably left myself. Unfortunately for me, ORD isn’t particularly junior over there. From the sounds of it, I could have either QOL or money, but not both, for quite some time if I made the switch. So, for the sake of my family, I probably fall into the category I talked about above: Left seater who talks about leaving, but probably never will. I figure that I’d rather dance with the devil that I know rather than the devil that I don’t. IF those rapid upgrades were to stop for whatever reason, I would have to be a 7-8 year widebody FO just to break even with where I’m at now.

At least in this hiring environment, if I go down with this place like I was clinging to the Titantic, I should be able to find another job pretty quickly. Haha

Nope. I really wish I could’ve told someone who A. would’ve listened and B. could’ve made a difference. Outside of my family I would’ve stayed because I really do think the company will do well in-spite of themselves
