There are many things that do suck at Frontier. Obviously pay being the biggest. The thing that was the biggest shocker for me was how bad the health care options are. This was a big step backwards from the regional I was at. Also no minimum daily guarantee makes for low credit trips. There are many things that made me shake my head during the first year and wonder to myself. "What have I done by coming here".
That being said I'm now on second year pay and things are much better. I have gained an incredible amount of seniority in a year. The flexibility to change your schedule is great. Vacation is really good I worked 7 days for my vacation month. If you live in domicile reserve is not bad, you can swap days and pick up trips with aggressive reserve. You can also work the system and hardly work at all. I've spent more time with my family in the last year than I ever have. The training department is great, the Airbus is great, the guys you fly with are all great.
So really it is some good and some bad. It sure beats most jobs. When I came here I knew it would take at least 3 years to know if I made the right decision. It's a high risk high reward opportunity. For those that are just starting out, the first year goes fast. Things change faster. Sleep well knowing you will be acquiring seniority fast and people keep telling me seniority is everything.

I've been called a glass half full guy before, and the fact is, there is a lot of room for more in my glass. But I'm not bitter and angry at myself for choosing to come to F9. I love working here. The pay sucks during the first year, and also thereafter relatively speaking. But I had to leave the regionals to take care of my family. Is it UAL pay? No. So what. UAL hasn't called me.
This begs the question: why are you here if you hate every single thing about F9? Go to a legacy if you're too good for F9. Or a regional.
I'll be the first one to walk when we strike. But I enjoy most of our hotels, even though some really need to go. I love the crews I work with. And if you hate this management, you should consider the previous versions. The ones that accepted pilot's concession after concession. And still ran the place into the ground after taking all that money.
Now I'll take my lashings, for daring to be happy...

Frontier Sucks.
1. The pay.
2. The hotels.
3. The flying.
4. Management.
5. The pilot group.
I write this as a 1 year employee. The pay is stupid here. Expect $900 checks every two weeks for your first year. You might hit a good month or get rolled. In that case you might get $1200. There is nothing in open time. Yes, most people get the base of their choice after a couple months and a line. Trust me, its not that cool.
2. Do you enjoy having fun on your overnights? Downtown hotels? Don't come here. We stay by the airport. No matter what, regardless of overnight duration. A good overnight at Frontier has a gas station and an Applebees.
3. Redeyes are unavoidable. Unless you are a bid ninja or glued to the computer you will fly redeyes. A lot of non redeye flying gets you in late at night and out early. Combine that with crummy hotels...
4. Management has made it very clear that any gains will be hard fought. Assuming a contract will pass, it'll be years. Get ready for a multi-year fight for another industry bottom POS.
5. This is most important. Frontier pilots are whipped. Starting the APU is considered an act of rebellion. We have a good group but 10 years of beatings have had their effect.
I understand anyone that wants to get out of the regionals. Just be very careful coming here. Get the type and get out. I think Frontier will be a sad case until we get swallowed up by someone else.

As a young, single male I pay ~$185 in premiums each month for a "traditional plan". Copay at the doctor is $45. If I get sick I plan on it costing a minimum $100 for basic medical services and a prescription or two, which can be a big hit on first year pay.
Our plans have got to go.
