Any advice you can give on how to be prepared for training? I have a June 28th start date and want to be as prepared as possible.

just memorize the Immediate action items (only the ones with a bold rectangle around them) and the limitations. dont worry about anything else until you know those better than your own address. thatll put you on a really good footing going into indoc. If you want to do even extra have a look through the SOP and familiarize yourself with the checklists/callouts. but seriously just memorize the limitations and let them teach you the rest.

As the previous poster said, commit to at least having the memory items/limitations covered. If you know those flawlessly and want to start learning about what you’ll be flying, you can also pick up the spiral bound CRJ-700 study guide by Nathan Leming. There are a handful of discrepancies in the book, so don’t build your flash card deck until you have access to the official company manuals, but overall it’s an excellent overview of the jet.

I'm curious Rooster as to why you would want to come here? No chance of going to Skywest? Did you murder your instructor or something? I feel like I'm sitting in a cell on a lifetime sentence and you are walking in, taking the top bunk and telling me you are a volunteer prisoner.

Curious why youre spending time putting down someone else's *probably* thought out decision for choosing G7..
Do you have nothing better to do? Did you have a bad experience in training with one of the TSH airlines? Are you drunk on the OO koolaid??

We dont all come here for being a *reject* somewhere else. Some of us want EWR junior base, some want to end up in STL, some are in AVIATE, some just want to fly the absolute rocketship that is the 550. And to top it off we are making more than the skywest pilots first year pay as it currently stands. If you have nothing but garbage to say at least make it constructive advice sounding garbage. Get a life.

Ah looks like youre former G7. Yeah after spending the amount of time you did at the regionals i dont think it matters which regional you were at, you're bound to be bitter... best wishes wherever you ended up, but please try better to not drag G7s name through the mud for the sake of your former fellow pilots and those of us who are just doing what is in our personal interests.

Lol I didn’t murder my instructor I actually worked very hard to get where I am as I’m sure a lot of you did. Just like all jobs, schools, programs etc. there are pros and cons to everything.
I’m sorry that right now you feel that way and I hope you get out soon especially for the people around you. Nothing worse than working with someone who just hates to be there. I got offers other regionals but after researching. I decided GoJet is the best place for me with the information I have available. If you can offer real insight on the company that I might not be aware of that would be greatly appreciated. When I say “insight” I mean hard facts not just your opinion.
Also thank you to everyone else who had great advice

As someone who is finishing up IOE at G7 I can tell you I have been happy overall with the experience. I did have a delay between systems and sims and a delay after the check ride and IOE. That was tough but they are decreasing the wait times and hopefully will they continue to decrease. The training has been good and everyone was willing and available to help when needed. If G7 works depending on your needs I can say you will probably also have a good experience in their training program. I’ll get back to you regarding the rest after IOE and some time on the line.

I agree, mud has done nothing worthy of being associated with the terrible name of G7. It is entirely unfair to mud everywhere, but that’s how colloquialisms work.

Beware the Ides of March! Well, I guess Caesar didn't listen either. You have not done proper research if you are going to GJ and I'm betting you will end up going somewhere else, that is my "opinion" based on a lot of evidence. You want "facts" and not "opinion" you say. Have you read the decisions in any of the federal court cases that GJ has lost for firing pilots taking FMLA or military leave? Someone said first year pay at GJ is higher than SW, no, just the pay scale of 50 GJ and 47 SW. Airline pay is a complex formula. SW is working on a new contract now which will bring their scale up. But they also get a profit sharing bonus and other bonuses. 401k company contribution is 4% at SW but only 2% at GJ and that doesn't start for 9 months. Overtime flying increases your vacation days and available PTO time at SW but not at GJ. One airline is growing and has a billion dollars in the bank while the other one had 18 planes repossessed for not making its payments from what I read. Negative for SW, they still have over 100 CRJ-200s. Which airline would you rather be flying for in 5 years, GJ or SW. The big hiring boom is going to be coming to a stop soon and 5 years at a regional is not all that unlikely. FACTS: Many more bases at SW. SW has more planes coming. Management at GJ has been leaving, VPs of ops, Briner, Bratcher, gone, as is their corporate attorney of many years. (When the managers are leaving it is time to be concerned.)
