How is Gj screwing you when you try to get a contract, give an example.

When companies negotiate pay rates on a new contract, they take an average from their industry. If Go Jet low balls their pilots, and they accept it, they have just lowered the average regional pay rate, and made it harder for other pilot groups to negotiate higher pay rates, because their company knows there are guys out there willing to do it for less.

Was this a serious question? Considering we're in negotiations right now, I know mgmt is just salivating at getting to say "Well GJ flies 70 seaters at these rates...they'll take all our flying if we pay you guys more and you'll be out of a job..."

Someone told me that EP said they take an average between Mesa and CHQ to come up with our pay rate.

Their contract was signed after nearly every other current CBA out there with the exception of perhaps Comair and ASA many of the current contracts at other regionals were gutted after 9/11 and the bankruptcies a few years ago. Compare to RAH, Skywest, Comair, ASA, Horizon and others on block rate alone and they're lower. Then throw in the stuff that isn't here, like insurance, 401k matching, etc. In that respect they're identical to TSA and lower than many carriers.

Any airline negotiating right now (including TSA) has an awfully hard time increasing their compensation. Thus making it harder for any of us to make what we truely should.

As far as their 3000 hour requirement, that isn't hard to change. Hulas had no problem ponying up on insurance deductables for reduced mins when TSA needed captains. EP walked into my class with the memo and it was still warm from the copier.

BURflyer, maybe you should ask your captains how they felt about being stuck in the right seat, displaced and furloughed while GJ was hiring. Oh wait, it's happening again.

Oh BurFlyer don't tell me you're actually gonna go there. I thought you were joking.

Who said I was going there. Just because someone is trying to argue the opposite side doesn't mean they're automatically going to go there.

Well I truly think TSA will succeed in the end otherwise I'm assuming next year things could get interesting. I know TSA is one of the cheapest regionals to operate with more income while the pay at same time is the lowest so somethings got to give. But at the same time with all that's going on in the industry including gas prices it's going to be an uphill battle. As far as GJ, the standard now is the same as even before GJ came along, so I'm not sure how they're screwing everybody. They're not the problem. Now I'm really going to stop.

The standard is the same because it hasn't had a chance to change yet. There's been one carrier that has signed a contract since they came on board and it wasn't exactly a resounding win for the industry. Fact of the matter is, whoever has the NEWEST contract should have the industry-leading contract...but that is definitely not the case thanks in part to GJ/Freedom A/The Original Republic Plan (that never happened, thank God).
