It’s all just HR mumbo jumbo and make-me-feel-good corporate branding.

“Thank you for sharing your travel experience with us”

Oh please...
It's not about "sufficiently safe." It's about hiring a good employee who plays well with others and shares the same set of values. That's over and above being a good stick.

It's a way of narrowing the playing field.

I say wear your gel and backpack but know your stuff, have a clear head, be present, serve the customer, and be the absolute best professional you can be.

And if we had the same attention to detail and acceptable standards as the medical field today, the only safe place from commercial aviation would be under Cheyenne Mountain.

True. But like all hiring metrics, it’s still subject to so many flaws. We’ve been doin this long enough to see a pilot hired that was an LCA, sim instructor, ACP/CP that was hired. Had a well rounded resume, but EVERYONE knew they were an A-hole.

And sadly, I’ve know more than a few that;

1) Lied about their volunteer time, or simply overplayed what they listed as volunteer work.

2) Stopped volunteering once they got the job, and have no shame in admitting it.

“It is what it is...”

Are you able to use your Global Entry as crew?
