I usually get "Thank You for your service" in a fast food drive thru on my way home.

I did career day at my kids' middle school years ago. Showed up in uniform, complete with hat. First kid I talked to asks "how many people have you shot?"

Ha! Gotten that one... also got the police officer discount one time, to which I said "no, I just fly airliners for Delta..." They refused to remove the discount and thanked me for my humility.

Calling out light chop and asking for wind checks is pretty risky work, I suppose.

I never minded the "are you a pilot" inquiries. That's an easy smile, "yes," and carry on.

When I taught in the sims, the lanyard said "Delta Pilot Training." The amount of times I got "oh good luck, I hope that works out for you!" was pretty funny. Once or twice I was like "oh, I actually give the training," but for the most part it was just a "thanks, me too."
I once woke up while getting yelled at while commuting on the train for "sleeping on the job" after a red eye. I was like "*** just happened?"
