Contactapproach,
I think you've got the wrong idea. I was also contacted for an interview and I had to turn it down due to a scheduling issue that I simply could not get out of. Don't be so negative, there are valid reasons why people turn down the interview, but still want the job. Btw, I replied in my email that I am still interested, I simply couldn't make it on the dates that Hawaiian wanted me there for the Phase I & II. Hopefully I'll receive an email in the future inviting me once again to interview. |

It's awesome that people who really don't want it, get it. I love it.

I know a guy who shops around with interviews just for practice and to "see what they have to offer"! If you dont want to work at a place, dont apply and take an interview slot away from someone who really wants to work there!

No Kidding. Unless my wife was spitting out a child... I can't think of a good reason to bypass an interview/potential seniority at Hawaiian. Ain't nothing a good sinus infection flare up(cough, cough) won't fix! But I haven't even been invited to a phase 1. I've got some sick time built up just in case, and wife ain't pregnant :D

Is it worth risking being caught? What happens when Hawaiian finds out that you've called in sick to be at the interview? In my case there was a 99% chance of that happening. It's not worth it to me to travel all the way there and blo my chances because I lied.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always thought absolutely. I'd do whatever I could to make an interview. I doubt they call employers to ask about the specific date you went to the interview...

Nope, but they could ask you directly whether you called out sick to make the interview. Then you have to either A: lie and risk getting caught or B: tell the truth and risk that looking very bad during an interview.
|
Let me put it another way, when you've got ties to the company, the employees, and the islands there's a VERY good chance that you'd be caught lying.
It was worth waiting for a more appropriate interview date than to blow the chance by making a bad decision and then A) lying about it OR B) telling the truth and look less than favorable in the interview. |

Called in sick for my interview...Not even questioned. Not even remotely close to the types of questions they asked....Go ahead, don't call in sick...Someone who wants the job more than you will. LOL

I'm facing an eviction right now so I could buy the suit and airline tickets to get to my interview with Hawaiian. Persistence is the key. Never give up. |
anyone who interviewed recently get any numbers on how many they plan to hire in 2013?
|
Any idea on when the next phase IIIs will be going down? Wondering if they'll be pushed out til 2013 with the slow down...The wait/uncertainty is painful...
|
Doubtful that anything ill happen during the holidays. They were showing a class of 4 in November, but apparently that got canceled with the new bid.

So what's the official latest word? I had originally heard hiring 100 this year and 100 next... so far they've only hired a few classes, right? did they drastically change their plans? Anyone on the inside know if/when there will be another window to apply?

Got word from the inside that this a temporary slow down due to the latest vacancy bid having a reduction of 10 slots. Still have A330s coming next year.
|
Appears they will hire 32 additional new hires starting in January, and continuing through June of 13. Some to 717, some into the 76, and four into the 330. More new hires after June, 13, for a total of 75 to 80 for the year if plans remain unchanged. After about May of 13, pilots will not be allowed to bid into the A330 from a previously assigned aircraft until their 2 year seat lock is completed, and then only if there is a vacancy. Subsequent to June of 13, there is still the possibility that new hires could be placed directly into the 330 depending on the company's needs. All of this is carved in marshmellow...

I guess you got all of this info off the system bid then? Are we still hearing there is an app window in June for more hires, or are you just going off what we've previously been told? |
Has anyone who interviewed recently get an e-mail from HA on how the interview went?

I expect you will not hear anything until they're ready to fill classes, which will be in Jan. At that point, they'll likely call out for Phase III's and from those, select the classes.. Hang in there fellas, I know it can be frustrating but it's worth it. |

Is this question related to the apparent lack of communication on behalf of HA or are you trying to figure out how to get selected for an interview? I thought maybe you might have an answer as to why the above has not received notice regarding his interview.

Usually, How much notice given between Phase III and class date

Yep, I got the same email:( "Are you able to attend an interview..." Followed by an oops we sent that email in error. I was all ready to buy my ticket out there!
|
The disregard email had October interview dates listed. The initial email had November interview dates.
I'm utterly confused about this. How can it be THAT difficult? |
I got the same, but the first e-mail had dates in November and the e-mail asking me to disregard had dates in October. Sounds like I'm in the same boat as the rest. Damn!
|
Same email here...
