You are being evaluated from the moment you walk in the door. You accumulate points all along the way (your writing skils on the incident report, sim, your answers in panel/group interview, etc) and with your written test scores receive an overall score for the whole process.
Not sure how strange it is but it certainly is frustrating waiting for the next step email!! :D

2 classes scheduled in August. No pilots selected yet.

Wonder which it is......class on the 5th of all ex Aloha drivers or 2 classes scheduled in Aug, nobody selected to fill them yet.

SVA402 07-18-2012 09:03 AM

Everything is scored. Sim, panel interviews, the strange HR sessions, the tests, etc.

kingairfun 07-18-2012 10:03 AM

Do you think that the first Aug class should have selectees notified by the next few days or at least sometime next week?(by selectees I mean Phase III invitations)

How is it that a class contains only all ex-Aloha pilots? Did they all score better than everybody else that interviewed up until that point? Sounds like kama'aina is in full effect at HAL.

One guy in that class didn't work for Aloha. The rest were ex-Aloha but they all interviewed at least 3 or 4 times in the past. From I have seen in the most recent classes this year, Hawaiian did hire a lot of non ex-Aloha pilots and non locals.

Hey, it is what it is 'goose'. I know that I felt like an idiot after 'Dr. Evil' :) administered that Phd. math exam! So I don't know where I'm at in the pool, but just found it odd that a class could be made up of a certain group of pilots if we all are ranked according to a system devised by HAL. No offense to any ex-Aloha drivers, actually I wish everybody the best of luck.

I've heard of two guys getting calls to come back for Phase III on Friday. They were in the 10-12th interview group.

Congratulations to those who got the Phase III invite! I know I'm still hoping for Phase III, or at least an email saying "we regret to inform you that..." It would sure ease this feeling of 'limbo' after a month.

SKYWCRJCA 07-25-2012 07:29 AM

Which hotel are people staying at for the interview?

Amen to that!!! I'd much rather them have told me the same day that I suck and shouldn't even be in a cockpit, than to wonder what my status is for a month or year (which is what I'm afraid will happen until they re-open the app window and tell us to try again).....

Do you know if they are still interviewing from this last open window? Don't be too hard on yourself mate, keep doing the best you can where you are now and hopefully that email will be here soon.

All the best!

Haven't heard of any recent interviews.. Maybe SKYWCRJ has one coming up?

I know they've interviewed atleast 150+ since the middle of June and only have run maybe 2 small classes....

In my case I've been to the height of where I wanted to be and unfortunately had it crash down due to the recession. But during my 2+ years there I experienced a truly professional organization... The term "wined and dined" during that interview had me hoping the Hawaiian interview would be sort of the same experience...

I'll be happy to accept a Phase III and possibly a job offer as I do think Hawaiian is a great company. But if a call doesn't come I know there was nothing more I could have done:)

SKYWCRJCA 07-27-2012 05:53 AM

Yes they are still interviewing from the may-June window and from what I've heard the interviews continue for some time. Many months more but I don't have an exact number.

I certainly never expected to be wined and dined by Hawaiian (or any other airline for that matter) but I DID have much higher expectations on communication from them to interview candidates. At this point even a thanks but no thanks communication would be refreshing.

Keep the faith TM..... the call is coming. :)

Man I sure hope it's not that way. Pele needs to light a fire under the HR Dept's. okoles! ;)

I heard that 19 guys did phase 3 yesterday. That would be to fill the Aug 7 class and the class scheduled for late August. There are still 60 some positions to fill the last vacancy bid.

dino1pilot 07-29-2012 09:42 AM

ThrustMonkey and Kingairfun......I also interviewed the day you guys did. I also havent heard a peep from Hawaiian. This is the way they do things. I have a couple of friends that work there and say they are trying to get them to change things because we have to come out there on such short notice, take time off work in some cases, and on our own dime. So to leave us not knowing anything is kind of wrong. So we might not hear anything till next year, the problem with that is our pool is only good for a year so you will have to reinterview next year if you dont make it this round. Thats what I had to do, its also true that no news is good news.

dino1pilot 07-30-2012 01:27 PM

Well just recieved an update, the first class in August is mainly made up of Ex Aloha pilots. I thought Hawaiian picked all those guys up by now?!?!

da_flyn_hawyn 07-31-2012 09:16 AM

There is still a lot of Aloha guys out there. I know personally that most of those in the Aug. 7 class are also the Aloha Air Cargo guys.

300+ guys and gals :(

PurpleCRJ 08-05-2012 07:45 PM

To those awaiting calls/emails for phase III, I got mine 8 months after I interviewed phase II. You get ranked somehow after your phase II. Then they pretty much call people right down the list (for the most part). However, people who interview after you can get ranked above you and thus, get called before you. Hopefully, you score high enough to get called before they fill all the vacancies. Once that has happened, they will close the requisition and everyone left will have to wait and reapply if and when they start hiring again. This is why it is important to make good use of every chance you get to speak at the interviews.

PurpleCRJ 08-05-2012 07:50 PM

And it is also why they don't send out "thanks but no thanks" emails until they have closed the hiring process. . . they don't know if they will call you until they get to that spot on the list or stop hiring.

Best piece of info on this thread so far, for those of us in the cue that is. Thanks brah!

Will Hawiaiian provide you with a ticket to the interview on Hawaiian or are you on your own?

HercDriver130 08-08-2012 04:49 AM

I believe you are on your own.
