What's happening at Horizon and Jets?

The company advised our union this morning at 9:30am, effective immediately, the company will offer new hires direct signing bonuses. They didn't state a number, but this directly violates our CBA and will go to court. If you come here, take the bonus and undermine our negotiating efforts (which will surely come with a 2 year contract) you will not be welcomed by our pilot group.

Wow, so if I was a new and took a bonus, I would immediately be a scab per the pilot union/community? I think I might sit out Compass and I have an interview for SkyWest coming up, sounds like either is a better place to work no matter what base you land at. Is Horizon in self destruct mode or what?
I'd do the skywest interview, you can land the E175 in pdx or sea straight out of training, get more money, and enjoy a quality of life that's infinitely better than Horizons. SkyWest upgrade is 1.5 years and dropping while Horizons is 2.5-3 years and climbing if they park our Qs.

It's about to get really ugly here with company violating our contract. If you come here now most of the pilot group is going to assume that they gave you the money. So don't expect open arms from most of the pilot group. I feel bad for those that are coming in, but the company has chosen this route. Don't be surprised if this gets much worse.

It sucks watching this place starting to implode. Handing out money outside our contract will make things worse and more hostile. This will not help rention, talked to many who are now accelerating their exit, cause they don't want to be on a the Boat as it sinks. They think this will help fill classes that we desperately need, it might help catch a few more. Its also creating a looming larger attrition rate. Was hoping to upgrade here but now the future is questionable???

All the company needs to do is approach the union to reopen the compensation section of the contract and offer to go back to the old RJ pay scale +10% and FINALLY an official flow to ALK in exchange for getting their coveted flexibility on first year pay. And this matter would be solved.. period. But sadly, what a far fetched crazy idea that would be...
