Making career decisions for others...so classy? Yet you left the best airline in the world (the regional) you were at? What gives?

When they wake up in 4 months after training they will see.(well, the 50% that could have focused on another airline will)
Love the professional advice of someone that works here? Why are you here if it so bad? Just curious.

Please don't take it personally that we apply.

Dude you don't need to apologize. You do what is right for you. Do we have problems yes as does every airline. But some of these guys get a little carried away. I don't regret coming here for one second. I am still very optimistic and I know we will get a great CBA. That will really help. Look we are changing the culture of JetBlue and how it deals with its pilots. It's like going through puberty it sucks but once it's done we won't be looking back. I think you should apply to every airline you want to but you don't need to feel bad because some guys on the internet are giving you an "education".

As always there are a ton of variables. I was hired 6 years ago only spent a few months on reserve and upgraded quick and also have a very easy commute, now I spend my time on reserve as a captain. So my opinion will be different vs some of the guys who are stuck as FOs on the bus on reserve with a rough commute(they have very valid points). But this is nothing new in the airline world. I just feel if you have the option of a job at JetBlue and you feel it is a step up go for it. Now that does not mean you shouldn't keep your options open but I certainly wouldn't pass up a job here or feel bad about applying.

Good luck and I hope you get what you want.

Every airline has problems? Obviously. Let me ask you Joe, does do DL, AA, UAL, FDX, UPS and SWA pilots have the "problem" of being paid 30-60 dollars less per hour?

All problems are NOT equal and ours are FAR more substantial than "my crew meal wasn't hot" or "my 5 star hotel didn't have any shampoo in my room".

Mine says "Completed" each time. I did it once with the resume and cover letter as docs, the next time as txt. Got the email both times that they were not able to process my application and to redo it with the resume in a txt format.
Oh well. I tried. Guess JB just isn't in the cards.

Southwest was FAR behind their peers until the bankruptcies after September 11th. Other airlines came DOWN to what Southwest was paying. And if you worked at Southwest in the late 90's, it was because you had too many DUI's to be called by United. Southwest's rates were sub par until they passed their recent contract.

UPS? They're a trucking company that uses airplanes to move some freight. They're pay very well so they can treat you very poorly.

American? Great seniority progression, no work rules. Ok pay rates.

United doesn't have a business model, and their CEO was lambasted during their last earnings call and their stock dropped 12% in one day. What is that? A $2 billion loss of value in one day?

Delta is doing fine, but they've hired 3,000 pilots in the last few years. That's 21% of their seniority list assuming there's no contraction over there. Maybe it works out and they keep hiring, maybe you end up on the back end of the hiring wave like the double United furloughees in the 2000's.

FedEx seems legit but they're only retiring half their list in the near future. Great pay rates, and a pension.

JetBlue ain't no Shangri-La, but if you think this place is horrible and every other airline is amazing, you're deluding yourself.

If that's what you're into, then have at it, hoss.

Do you ever visit those other boards? UPS is especially toxic...despite being one of the highest compensated aviation jobs on the planet. They're all the same. Always 5 or so folks that just run the place down and all the hopeful applicants constantly. I work for a crap ACMI operator. Some of the folks I work with are just happy as clams. Some think it'll be great just as soon as a a new CBA is in place. Some want to punch you in the face for just showing up to work. I have friends at American that think it's absolutely the worst job they've ever had. I have friends at JetBlue that are perfectly happy. And every range of opinions in between. So like me, I'm sure that these guys are applying to every airline that they could see themselves having a successful career at. Maybe today JetBlue is at the bottom of that list of airlines. Maybe in two years it would be #1 or 2? Who knows? Who's gonna call first? This industry is so unpredictable and cyclical.....and at some point you just have to slide your chips across the table and walk away.

Here's the deal though. Every job sucks. And we're all just trying to cover our nut (STS).

This is what UPS does to its employees who have military obligations.
