If you’re looking to get out of the northeast hops, it’s the 320 without question. While I’m not JFK, my stage length seems to average on 3 hours block or so over a year. My shortest flight is typically a northeast to Florida type route. On legs per day, most common is 1, occasionally, but not rare, is 2. I’ve seen 3 less times than I can count on one hand and done 4 legs 2 times and it was all west coast and worth 8+ hours.

Interesting. So those 3 leg stinkers don’t typically go to reserves? Guys hang on to them because of productivity? One and done or 2 sounds great especially on RSV.

Thanks for the help guys! I guess my biggest concern is the ability to bid days off. Talked to one FO and it sounded like they couldn't get any days off they wanted and are past the two-year mark. Having come from sitting top 15% at a regional, 18 days off, max credit, it'll be an adjustment. I'm usually not picky on the days but every once in a while like to make a three-four day off selection work out... Excited to be here and we'll see how the bids work out. Thanks again!

You can have any day off you want. As long as you only want Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday off.

I keed... kind of. Getting a weekend day off while new on RSV will be rather tough, in general, if it's just for fun. But for something important like a medical event, it's as easy as calling the CPO and being removed from duty.

Getting the day's you want off as a lineholder at the 2 year mark is 50/50. JFK 320 FO is a huge commuter base. It will be interesting to see if RSV might go a little more senior with the different rules especially LCR. IT might increase seniority some, however if you do want weekends off 1.5 years in is holding weekends off on RSV. For what it's worth

Quick question guys while we are on the topic-

Can I commute in during the call out window? For example if I start RSV at 10am (12:30 earliest show) and I arrive in JFK at 11am (of course keeping CS in the loop) is that acceptable or do we need to be in domicile before RSV starts?

If that is acceptable, is LGA a valid option for this technique of commuting?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, i mean in the rare weather circumstance they might not screw you... because if they send you an assignment to your app before they call you and you acknowledge then you don't have to answer the phone but they want you in base by the time your call out period starts so you can answer the phone within the 15 minutes as required or you get a missed trip.

Unless it’s extenuating circumstances that doesn’t allow you to be contactable at your RAP, that’s not a card that I would play...especially on probation.

Don’t know what you’re asking in regards to LGA. There’s no techniques. You need to be readily available at RAP. Someone with a 12pm RAP time could wait it out in LGA and then find their way to JFK if that’s what you’re asking.

With my old airline you could commute during call out window in as long as you were in base by the earliest possible showtime and informed CS. Hence your assigned flight is not affected at all.

For example, if my earliest possible showtime is 12:30, why is it a problem if I arrive in base at 11am?
