At Spirit when on reserve I waive my guaranteed days off from 4 to 1 and request weekends off on reserve. After the 1st month when I had a bit more seniority it worked and got every weekend off. Is it possible to do something like this at JetBlue?

Yes, you can string all your reserve days in a row (17-18 days depending on the month and SCR vs LCR) or you can go down to a minimum of 1 day off between blocks of days. Weekends off on RSV are typically easy to get once you’re around the 70-80% mark in seat. LCR tends to go slightly more senior than SCR.

Personally I stayed away from the regionals because I valued my skills and hard work too much to sell it for McDonald’s wages. Also, I did not want to further exasperate the industry and be another guy they hired saying “I’m willing to work for food stamps.”

The old timers that knowingly went to the regionals when it was the worst of the worst WERE the problems. You only showed regional management that you could be bought for a cheap price and so you were.

Stop complaining about how good new pilots have it now when you were willing to work for cheap with terrible work rules. If it was that bad you should have gone 135, military, or something outside of the aviation industry. Otherwise shut up and accept that you sold your skills for a lesser price than others.
Jerk alert.

He was on a move up/hybrid line.

How long is SCR JFK 320 currently? Commuter starting soon and want an idea of what to expect. From what I have read is seems like SCR is commutable on request? My past airline you could base swap where you sit RSV depending on coverage. Is that and swapping days around possible? Thanks in advance looking forward to getting started!

With shrinking the base in 24 I imagine it’ll be awhile. First day of block never before 1000 if not waived. Swapping is possible on paper, but grid rarely provides that especially when new because you’ll be awarded weekends. Base swaps are possible, but not how you describe.

Where do you commute from?

Would anyone mind sharing how much monthly block flying you’re doing on reserve in JFK (320)? And if anyone has a sense of LA?

Thanks!

Apply or don't apply, but these questions don't provide any type of reliable QOL expectation.

Lots of senior people bid short call reserve in LA because you don't fly as much, espedially during the shoulder periods like now. Right now, 3 weeks into the month, most people have between 0 and 30 hours of block with the average being about 18 block I'd say. Guarantee is 75 hours for reserves.
