There is USUALLY a week (or 2) break at the beginning to spread the sims out. Senior guys get to choose the break or push through with no break.

The rest of training has 1 day off per week, maybe 2. Not many 2 day breaks though. The bus training is a little tougher than the 190.

The lodge is incredibly convenient, but the food gets REALLY old. It’s a little bit like being in a really nice prison or hospital.

I went home three times. Once during my 10 day break, and a couple weekends later on down the road. Also think I got roughly 10 days off between LOE and starting IOE.

If you have a way to bring a car, do it. The Lodge is nice, but it is JB Prison. JB is everywhere you look, even in the rooms, when you sit down on the toilet there is a JB picture right in front of you even (not kidding). Training, at least on the 190, is easy. You won’t be studying constantly and will have a ton of down time. If you’ve been through training at a regional, it’s NOTHING like that. They don’t care how many pounds of fuel the plane holds, or how many rivets in a door. Just what the switches do and if something isn’t green, you need need to look in the QRH.

If you can, bring a car to escape the blue. You’ll be your sim partner’s hero. I should have driven down from New England. Instead I rented cars.

You can't update the hours. The application is only open for a few weeks at a time, and there's no need to update anything. When the window opens again, reapply with your updated hours.

How long roughly to hold a line on the 190 in JFK? What’s the average days off for a line holder?

A month or two at most. 15-17 days off happens pretty quickly.
