Sorry about that! Got an email saying the search agent matched my 'first officer' search criteria but when I clicked the link it led to a project manager position.

False alarm!

Reminds me of when you pull that coupon out for buy one get one free, only to realize it expired last month!

Which, although sounds outwardly stupid at first is actually the difference in pay between JB year one and a regional. So it washes out the same in terms of opportunity cost. And I save three - six months of time. And a likely commute. And don't have to buy a hat. They didn't buy it.
It probably revolves more around their perception of your ability to pass a checkride and get through training (which would have to happen if / when you go to the regionals). Based on your experience, my assumption is that you would have no issues with either a regional or JB.

I think that's a valid argument. I'm sure there's a correlation between time away from a training program and success rate. But again, that's a generalization. The fact that cancer appears at a rate of X in the population does not mean the chances of a single individual getting cancer is the same X. But I'm a self-proclaimed psychometrics geek and can argue it all day long. Large organizations don't have the time, inclination, or necessity to sweat the small stuff. For convenience and expediency they have to operate squarely in the middle of the curve. I get that.

What is the current expected reserve timeline for all airframes and all bases?

That would take some legwork. But I can tell you that Boston 190 is probably the most junior spot in the system and for June the bottom line was awarded to a jan 14 hire.

Buddy of mine that wrapped up IOE in April is holding an move up line next month on the 190 in BOS. So, he only spent May on reserve. A lot probably depends on when you come in and when you finish up training. If you finish IOE right before spring or summer, you're more likely to hold a line since the flying increases. Finish late summer or early Fall, you'll probably hold a line in December and on the bubble/back to reserve in January depending on how many guys come in behind you.

190 still seems to be the fastest way to holding a line, but if you want FLL or LGB, I'd still try to bid the Bus and suck it up on reserve in JFK or BOS. From the way things have been going, it seems you an get FLL or LGB earlier than the 2 year equipment lock on the 190. For that fact, I could have even held MCO 320 FO on the supplemental, but I was equipment locked on the 190 for another 6 days after the effective date of the bid. That and reserve in base with few to no red eyes really has me spoiled.

But how long would it take to hold a line in LGB? I'm thinking for QOL (for a commuter), the way to go would be E-190 out of the gate, then when you can hold a line in LGB bid A-320. Am I correct? Or how difficult is it to get the A320 flights to Seattle out of Boston, are they senior? (nice long layovers in Seattle/home)

Junior LGB FO is #2551. Junior line holder in LGB is #2163. There were 16 pilots between the two. I'd say it will take 2-3 years to hold a line in LGB.

I'd go with the E190 in BOS for a few years then bid to the 320 when you can hold a LGB line, unless you have family in LGB or don't mind commuting to the crash pad Reserve life for a while.

I was BOS A320 (well, I am for one more trip this weekend) and sat reserve for a grand total of 6 weeks - the last 2 weeks after finishing IOE, then the next month. The following month, I was awarded reserve, but got a move-up line. The next, I got a hybrid move-up (a line with 5 days reserve in the middle). Then a full-up line from then on.

Move forward a year, and hiring is even quicker.
